Questions & Answers

How faw apart are the holes on these hinges?

Asked by: Ashlee
I don't live in the house I put them in anymore, but I remember they fit with the holes from the old hinges. The important thing to know is whether you need the inset ones or not. I ended up buying a few individual ones as samples before I bought a box.

The distance between the top and the bottom screw is approximately 1 inch apart and the third hole is between them.

Will they rust? We live right next to the coast in San Diego and the windows are open in the summer. Need something rust proof. I don't want to have to change them in a year.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to this. I've just finished installing mine and I live in the midwest.

Antique Pewter Self-Closing 3/8 in. Inset Cabinet Hinge (1-Pair) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 141.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from your get what you pay for Just finished replacing 28 of these on my cabinet doors. They look nice and match the finish other satin nickel hardware I picked up that was more spendy for the knobs and handles. I have 3 problems with them though, the first not really being a fault of this product per say. 1) I was replacing old brass hinges from the 70s I think. The previous holes did not line up properly due to a change in current uniform design, so be aware if you have old hardware you may be drilling new holes. 2) flush installation of these hinges still produces a small side gap which caused my double cabinets to meet early and had to be sanded down to close properly 3) They bend very easilly with minor amounts of pressure, so be very careful allowing the door weight to rest on a single hinge for even a second. Once 2 hinges are in place they hold sturdy. Still I am glad I got 30 with the value pack instead of 28 because the first one went int he trash.

These are black, I ended up returning them because they didn’t match the oil rubbed bronze handles I already purchased. HD did not have anything else online or in store so I ended up ordering from someone else. On the plus side this was special order online but was able to return them in store no problem

These are heavy-duty hinges and the satin nickel finish really looks nice with my stainless steel appliances. While attaching them to the backsides of the doors, I found that the inset is a little wider than the old hinges so the old holes don't quite line up. I'm drilling new holes to make them fit, which is no big job. When I go to put the doors back on, I'm finding that the holes for the old hinges don't quite match either, allowing the door to sag and for there to be a gap at the top. I thought I would have to drill all new holes, but it turns out that drilling a new hole a little to the right only for the bottom screw lifts the door appropriately. If they start to sag with usage I may have to drill more holes but so far, so good. My old hinges were dark with age so they were barely seen against the dark wood cabinets. The satin nickel ones are very visible, which will take a little while to get used to, I think. I am happy with them, though, as they give my kitchen a classy and modern look.
