What would be the best tool to cut these?

So would I need to buy rolls of underlayment to lay down underneath this even though it has an underlayment attached??
Asked by: lonewolf
Our contractor told us that it depends where you are installing it. We are doing a residential basement where the concrete is likely to be uneven causing the floating boards to "slap down" when stepping on an area that may be lower than surrounding areas. Thus, he recommended a soft underlayment.

Yes. It will be the most resistant of any flooring planks. The darker you go however may catch damage easier (if) a scratch occurs. It's very durable and highly doubtful that will happen

Can this flooring be glued down if desired? Looking for something to put in a laundry room with 3 washers and dryers and more traffic than a normal laundry room. Would like to glue down to provide more protection in case a washer leaked water. Does manufacturer allow this to be glued? Also concerned about how easy it is to scratch. Would this product scratch less that solid piece linoleum?
Asked by: Stan
Please don't glue this down (future owners will thank you), there is never a need to glue plank flooring down unless it's cheap junk.

Easy Oak 8.7 in. x 47.6 in. Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring (20.06 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 3120.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from installed this into a bathroom and it was the first time I had ever installed flooring like this ... installed this into a bathroom and it was the first time I had ever installed flooring like this myself, although I have helped other people previously. Watched a bunch of videos and knew it was something I could do. Going slow it took me 4.5 hours to do a 45sqft bathroom. The product was simple to install once you got the hang of tapping it into place. Feel confident installing this for people of any level of experience. The one negative I will say is that it was not as easy to score and snap as it seemed to show in the videos. I was using a guide and yet my blade was still traveling off my line and it seemed no matter how many times I scored it or how deep went, it took some force to break pieces off. Towards the end I just used a jigsaw to make the cuts. For $170 worth of flooring this was a great investment into the bathroom, add in a vanity, some paint, new toilet, linen closet and I was able to upgrade/update my bathroom for $600.00 by shopping clearance for the vanity after the summer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Scratches We were so excited to install this flooring in our new home. And really felt like we were splurging by going with this brand...but knew that we needed something that would last and hold up. Our first disappointment was the lack of different patterns in the boards. There were maybe 4 or 5, so you have to pay special attention to ensure a variation in the board pattern/print. But it looked great once we got it installed. Sadly, we we were crushed days later when carefully moving a piece of furniture and a HUGE scratch went down our hallway. I realize this is our mistake, but The description of durability in this flooring is misleading. And our previous flooring that was the cheapest Home Depot had to offer didn’t ever get a single scratch. Within a month of installing this Lifeproof flooring we now have several scratches. They are very visible and were done effortlessly by toddlers! I imagine we will have to replace within a year because it will just look like trash. So disappointing.

We decided to go with this product for the thickness, durability and ease of installation even though it is more expensive than most products we were looking at. We also purchased the recommended tapping block for installation. The product was professionally installed. We were happy with the look. However, we have the cleaning people come right after contractor left to clean the house. We were appalled to find several spots where the floor top layer seem to be scraped off or failing. We contacted Home Depot immediately prior to move in. We were told to contact the manufacturer. We filed the problem report with manufacturer on their website as directed by Home Depot. Despite the claim of 100% lifeproof, no one from the company responded to our request. We wrote follow-up email and contacted them again. Still no answer. Very disappointed with the manufacturer and Home Depot. False claim about their products holding up and unresponsive to request for answer.

You will need a saw to cut long wise but can easily cut the short direction with a utility knife. I highly recommend getting the Roberts tapping block and the pull bar otherwise you are likely to break the connecting points. I wouldn't call this product fragile but you do need to mind the joints. If you hit them with a hammer they will break and then the pieces won't fit together. Also if you need to take the pieces apart once joined, slide them to separate or the joint will break. If takes more force than you would expect to break the pieces apart when you cut them with a utility knife and also to hammer them together. Don't be scared, go for it. But use the tapping block.

I loved the look of the floors, however they scratch at the smallest touch. Our builder had the floors protected and covered during the construction of our house. When we uncovered them we found tons of little scratches and found that if you even just walked on the floor wrong with clean shoes you could scratch it. Part of the surface laminate even started peeling on a few boards and this is only about 2 weeks after installation so we thought we had a bad batch. We contacted the company regarding their warranty and they denied it saying that it was installation error or some such nonsense. They even claimed that it was because the floors weren't covered. We obviously had to remove the covering so the inspector could see the scratches. In any case after paying over $20,000 in flooring to this BS company they declined everything. I would never buy from this company again strictly based on the way they handled the warranty and the issue, let alone the poor quality of the floor itself.

I absolutely love this product and will use it again if I ever have to replace flooring throughout any room in my house. I wish this product was available 10 years ago when I was putting laminate in my living room. I have recently replaced 2 bathroom floors with this product. I was originally planning on using tiles but was introduced to LifeProof luxury vinyl tiles by my local Home Depot sales associate. The cost of the LVT vs. ceramic tiles is at least 50% less because of labor and materials. It is certainly more durable (not breakage) and has a more beautiful look (in my opinion). I had to order samples because it was a newer product and my HD did not have any in stock. I was happy with all of the different choices available. I am so impressed with the real wood look! The feel below my feet is also very comfortable. Of course, it does not feel like real wood, but it feels better than my old laminate which is of a higher quality. This product, compared to others in it's category, has a thick padded base which makes it have a warmer feel and sound/shock absorption. These are also waterproof not water resistant so installing them in a bathroom was a no brainer. I could not be happier! I had Home Depot install the floors so I cannot answer to the ease of installation. The people who installed it did not take very long. However, it cost almost as much to have the 2 toilets removed and reinstalled with new seals than the actual flooring. If you know how to remove the toilets you will save $250 per toilet.

I've installed many different flooring products in my 25 years of owning a dozen rental homes. I like the durability of this product so I decided to spend more and give it a try. It's made of PVC so it should be waterproof. It should not expand too much and buckle. It shouldn't scratch or wear out easily. It installed very easily. Probably one of the most easiest floors I've installed. It looks and feels terrific. I went directly over tile, and didn't need to purchase underlayment. There was one problem. Somehow a much lighter peice got in the mix. We didn't notice it until I was 3/4 of the way done. Once this product locks in you cannot go backwards. If you do you have to discard it because it will not lock again. The single peice also had a chip on a corner. All the other pieces did not come close to chipping. So this one piece must of been a defect. It's a shame because otherwise everything else was great. I've sent a letter to the manufacturer to see what they can do for me. I will post an update.
