Questions & Answers

is the surface smooth or textured?

Asked by: BB
Thank you for your question. The product is not completely smooth. It does have some texture to the surface to simulate a more realistic looking product.

Would this flooring be recommended for Living room, hallways, dinning and kitchen?

I know it says it's durable, doesn't scratch or dent. But after reading many reviews Im a bit uncertain. How well would this flooring hold up underneath 3 reclining sofas, and living room tables?. Would the weight dent the flooring? If so, what's a good flooring that can flow openly between a living area, kitchen/dinning and hallway? Please any recommendations. Thanks!
Asked by: AshleyF
I have it in my kitchen with my stove and refrigerator on top of it. No dents so far. It's an amazing floor!

We had previously watched some installation videos just to ease our minds and to make sure we were installing correctly. Let me state this; "if your floors are uneven (our house is 38 years old), go ahead and say a prayer before you begin, because it can turn into a pain in the butt. On the sections that were flat and even, the floors snap together flawlessly. The tongues on flooring break very easy, so be careful. We used a utility knife to do the cutting, but used the table saw on the last row. All in all, we love the floors, easy to take care of, easy to install minus the uneven mishaps. They live up to there name, they are water proof (we left ours outside in the truck bed and it rained) floors were fine. So far we have received numerous compliments. We would definitely buy and install again.

The package instructions would not work and we ended up putting some screws along the edge of first boards to hold in place to do the rest and then removing when finished. The information on click and press in place could have been clearer but once we worked it for a while we got the hang of it. The pattern we selected did not show the areas of distress that looked like chains or something had scrapped it in the sample on display. We may not of selected it had we seen that part of it. We were able to hide most of that in the outer edges of the room where it is out of sight. Also hidden in the fine print on the back page in care of floor it talks about not using in a room where there is wood heat because of intense drying. We have a wood stove in that room so will have to see how we make out. The floor was completely installed before we saw that. I'm hoping I'll be able to use some sort of polish on it to keep the finish looking good.

Installation went smooth for the most part, occasionally it was tough to get it to snap together but it was almost always because something had gotten out of square or there was trash in the joint. You can score it with a utility knife and break it if it’s a straight cut with plenty of material on either side, anything else had to be cut with a saw. We’ve had it down for about a week and everyone that’s seen it loves it. We did our kitchen, hall and laundry room approximately 250 square feet and so far we are very happy with it. In my opinion this is one of the better choices for vinyl plank flooring.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lies lies lies Very disappointed in the lifeproof luxury vinyl product. First off, "score & snap" is more like score each piece 10-15 and then try and snap. I found that a table saw worked best. Next is the "drop and lock" install system. The vinyl and underlayment that is attached can easily break and separate. When this happens it creates a small gap in the flooring. The best fix for this was simply to grab a new piece and take your time and use extreme patience. If you rush - you will break them. Lastly, the most disappointing thing... they are not scratch proof as advertised. We have been very careful (we haven't even had them installed a week) and the moving in and out of our kitchen table chairs has put deep scratches in the flooring. No, these aren't jagged chairs, just normal kitchen table chairs. I'm not looking forward to seeing how the product holds up overtime because we just installed about 34 cases of it. If I had a time machine I would go back and absolutely NOT buy this product.

My husband and I installed this product (Nashville Oak) ourselves in our master bedroom in one weekend. It was easy to cut to length by scoring through the ceramic coating with a utility knife and snapping the plank in half, then zipping through the squishy backing to finish separating the pieces. Your best bet to cut it to width will be with a table saw. There are only four different planks, but they are printed in opposite orientations so it's kind of like eight different pictures, though the distinguishing features in each image are obviously noticeable in their upside down version, too. Despite the limited variety, the floor looks great. We chose Nashville Oak specifically because the available images blended so well into each other; seams are difficult to find and the repetition is less obvious. I included a picture of the four planks this set includes, which we ended up nicknaming Chunky Block, Saw Tooth, Blondie, and Knotty to quickly refer to them when we were determining which plank we wanted to lay next.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this flooring! This floor was very easy to install for my husband and I. He did the cutting while I did the laying. I will say that the scoring and snapping is not a very good method for this flooring. Go buy the $70 blade that can cut soft wood and veneer and it will make your life a lot easier. We used the miter saw and a table saw to do our cuts and also tin snips. The tapping block and the mallet are a great tool to install this flooring as they will not click together without them. if you make a mistake after tapping the plank in place , be very careful on how you remove the planks. We damaged one trying and learned real quick that you lift the long side up a little to un click it and for the side you must slide it towards you. Do not try to lift or un click the side. Wiggle it to slide toward you. When it came to the last piece where you can not use the block or mallet we just used a small pry bar to lock in the planks. This floor all around is just perfect. Very scratch resistant completely waterproof and has the texture of real wood.

My hu5sband and I wanted to replace all the floors in our home with a seamless floor throughout even in the closets. We had a flooring company come out and give us a price of $15,000.00. Our home is 1700 square feet. We felt like that was a bit high and maybe we could do this ourselves. We visited the Home Depot in Burlington, NC and we met Betsey in the flooring department. We explained to her our situation and she encouraged us to do it ourselves. My husband and I work together everyday and felt like with her encouragement maybe we could do this. We ordered 94 boxes and went to work on May 5th and finished 4 weeks and 1 day later. It looks amazing. We worked together to measure and score the pieces which were so easy to work with. We would definitely recommend this floor to any one! It looks great in the kitchen as well as the bath. Betsey was so helpful during the entire process. Home Depot was so good to work with with the overages that we had to return. The colors in the floor give it so much character. The clean up is so easy too, just a little dish soap and water and it tries in minutes. Betsey made a believer out of both of us!!!

Just laid down 24 boxes of the Woodacres oak (thickest) version of this product. Having previously worked with several other types of floating interlocking flooring I was disappointed by how difficult it was to completely join the seams. Followed the directions but ultimately each and every piece took some SERIOUS pounding with a tapping block to completely remove gaps between pieces. FYI - The Richards cutter ($50) recommended at bottom of description page will NOT cut through the tile. Found it very very difficult to cut through thick version of this product with just a utility knife. Purchased a Bullet EZ shear ($200) and it was worth every penny. Final product looks good, seems to have a thick wear layer, and padding makes floor feel very solid underfoot. Which is why I gave it 3 stars
