    Q:How thick is this tape?

    Answer This Question

A:  Once both sides are removed, the actual tape thickness is about the thickness of a sheet of paper or clear strapping tape.

    by|May 21, 2021

A:  Once the backing is pulled off-the tape is super thin. Be careful that it’s stuck down bc it will get stuck together.

Q:Can I use this to put peel and stick tile on top of ceramic tile?
        by|Mar 22, 2021

        Answer This Question

A:  The tape will work but if you have grout lines, those could telescope through the peel and stick tile.

        by|Mar 23, 2021

A:  Yes...but note that it has to be clean...must be rough...so sand the shiny glaze off if it comes loose....and try again....clean is the key.....

This LIFETILES 3” x 22’ Double Sided Heavy Duty Flooring Installation Tape is made to install vinyl tile, vinyl planks, smooth-backed rubber flooring, vinyl and rubber base, cork flooring and cork underlayment on walls and floors. The clear adhesive tape comes on a large 3” wide roll with a heavy center cardboard core. There is a blue plastic release backing on one side of the tape. To use, unroll and cut the required length. Firmly press the tape onto the substrate, starting at one end and working to the opposite end pressing as you apply the tape. Once it is stuck to the mounting surface simply remove the blue backing. I found using a utility knife to start the backing removal at one corner was easiest. Then carefully locate the tile where you want it, confirm the alignment, and press or roll firmly with a J-roller. Alternatively, the entire job can be rolled with a flooring roller once the entire floor has been installed. This roll of tape came with no directions. Reading the installation manual on Home Depot’s site offers general instructions. I don’t know if they want you to cover some, most, or all of the surface area with this double side tape and it doesn’t tell you. Perhaps the tile you purchase will come with their own installation requirements. I personally got this tape for use in my woodworking shop. I often need a strong double side tape to temporary and securely hold parts in place while I perform various machining processes. This is by far the best tape I have ever used for that purpose. As for using to install floor tiles...it appears that it will work as intended and homeowners may be willing to give it a try on their own projects. As a contractor, I would never use this to permanently install a floor at this point. I have no data to know what the long term performance will be and I can’t experiment in a customer’s house. I would feel more confident if the manufacturer had a performance warranty that was longer than 1 year.

LifeTiles makes installation of luxury vinyl tiles and carpet tiles much easier than gluing with their Double Sided Heavy Duty Flooring Installation Tape. Anybody can lay down new flooring using this tape and a pair of scissors. It's stickiness formula makes it perfect for kitchens and bathrooms. It is tough and moisture resistant. I used it to install bathroom tiles and absolutely love it. The long tile strips are secured very firmly with LifeTiles tape, and don't lift from water or steam. This is a wonderful alternative to messy glues.

This flooring tape came without any instructions. It's very thin at .008" (8 thousands). I tested it by using a 1" x 3" piece to attach a vinyl flooring sample to plywood subfloor. I tried to pull it off the next day and it took more than 50 lbs of force to pull off the tile, so this tape is really strong stuff. I was able to peel the remaining tape off the subfloor, taking some of the wood with it. I think if taped-down flooring ever had to be removed you could release the tape a little at a time with a putty knife. My wife claimed some of the tape to use with her Christmas craft projects, and I used a bit to refasten a carpet patch where the cats had scratched through the carpet. This tape has many uses and is highly recommended.

This LifeTiles double sided tape is about the best 2-sided tape that I have found or used. I always like to have 2-sided tape in my "toolbox" for a number of uses around the house up to and including its intended purpose for use in carpet and flooring installations. It is extremely tacky and appears to adhere to just about any surface. It’s not affected by moisture so it works well on concrete floors such as in the garage to keep mats/rugs in place without sliding. I haven’t measured the length of this roll but it appears much longer than the advertised 22’ (see picture). It’s a very good product.

Great adhesion! While this product is advertised as intended for flooring,I used it to install 3x6 glass subway tiles in my kitchen as a backsplash. I wanted something that was waterproof and extremely adhesive as I did not want to use grout. The peel and stick properties of the double-sided tape were very appealing to me. As there were no instructions included,it was trial and error in the beginning as to how to cut the tape. I found that using scissors was difficult unless you had the liner side facing up and even then, the scissors themselves would stick to the tape. After several mishaps, I discovered that a thin coating of goo gone on the blades did the trick The scissors cut through cleanly without sticking. I was very happy with the results and with the speed with which I could work in applying the tiles. I would definitely recommend this product to all.

I used this Life Tiles double sided flooring tape as I was installing some Life Tiles flooring in my garage and I couldn't be more satisfied. It went down easy as a pie without any issues. Just make sure you have the floor clean and dry and it will do the job as advertised. The tape is made with quality materials and the 22' roll will go a long way in completing the job. Great product at a great price!

Lifetiles 3 inch by 22 feet Double Sided Heavy Duty Flooring Installation Tape is excellent for taping outdoor carpet to concrete balcony floor... Before installing clean the floor and then use a rag with denatured alcohol in the area where the tape is to be applied... Work along the ends and outside edges making sure the carpet smoothed out as you go along... The tape makes a strong hold to the carpet even when the wind was blowing fairly hard.

This is a handy double sided tape for hard and/or flexible flooring, transition areas between two types of flooring AND many other household tasks. You unroll the tape and lay it down with the blue backing facing up, press it down by hand or roller, then peel back the blue layer backing to expose the clear double sided tape. If you make a mistake It comes off pretty easy in the beginning and doesn't leave marks or residue at first, but holds on to floors, woods, plastic, glass, tile, almost anything very well once set. It's VERY tacky and holds strong once pressed into place or walked on under flooring. It won't let the planks or tiles slide or wiggle around at all. It's clear once you remove the backing and very thin so you'll see no transition or bump where it's laid under the floor. One roll lasts a long time. This can also be used for other jobs around the house where a strong double sided clear tape might be needed. I'd recommend it.
