Answer

Thank you for your question. The product is already waterproof and does not require any further sealing. As for cleaning it, we suggest dry mopping or sweeping for routine cleaning, but if you have something more stubborn then some wetting the mop with distilled water first should work. Make sure to wipe up the water as quickly as possible to stop any residue from what was cleaned settling onto the flooring again. Anything beyond a manual mop with distilled water we suggest testing somewhere such as a closet in case it causes damage because any damaged caused will not be covered under the warranty. Any floor cleaning products should be used in accordance with their manufacturer's instructions.

what is the difference between water resistant and waterproof?

Asked by ron October 19, 2020

Answer

Thank you for your question. Ultimately, the difference between the two terms is mostly time. A water resistant flooring will not be damaged by moisture on the surface for a certain amount of time, commonly but not always 24 hours, but will eventually suffer water damage. While waterproof flooring will, assuming the it has not suffered any previous physical damage, be able to sustain water exposure for much longer if not indefinitely. There are two important caveats to keep in mind with waterproof flooring however. In some cases, the waterproof flooring will only be waterproof for a certain amount of time. In addition, even the most waterproof flooring is not a moisture barrier and will allow water through the gaps between planks even though it is not being damaged. The best practice is to clean up any water spills as quickly as possible, no matter how waterproof your flooring is. This product in particular is fully waterproof with the bamboo veneer fully sealed.

I doubt it. There is real bamboo under a kind of plastic coating. I am not sure if the water would cause swelling if submerged. It might depend on how long. The base of these boards is kind of like hardiplank so that part would be okay, but you'd have to ask the manufacturer if the boards can be submerged and for how long.

We used this in a 13' x 14' room. Installation was ok. It takes a little more time to get used to perfecting the lock on this product as opposed to several others I a have used. Total time was about 6 hours to install. The bamboo fibers on top are thicker than you think and look fantastic on the floor. You need to be a little careful cutting the across the bamboo, a dull blade can pull them loose on the edge. It does scratch rather easily, so put pads on all your furniture. We have only had it down for about a month, well see how well it holds up. I am looking for a furniture marker with the right color to hide a couple scratches. If you use an office chair in this room , which I do, put the roller blade style wheels on the chair. I would give it 5 stars if I wasn't nervous about scratches.

Seeds Program Review
(What's this)
This review is for the Home Legends "Life Proof" Mojave Strand Woven Bamboo engineered floating wood floors, product # HL673. Once they are laid down, these floors are stunningly beautiful. This product is a new generation engineered bamboo floor. The real strand woven bamboo veneer is fastened to a waterproof substrate which is made of stone composite polymer. The long side edge has a click-lock joint locking design and the short side edge has a tap-down joint locking design. Both are used in connecting the planks to each other. When the installation is done correctly, it makes all the planks turn into one solid connected floor. Each plank has it's own individual pad glued on to the bottom surface so no other pad is necessary, nor should one be used. I've seen some reviews that these floors tend to scratch. But it is evident that Home Legend floors addressed that earlier issue with a harder coating surface. I've had these floors down for over a month. And several times a day, my tall 65 pound energized dog will come racing into our bedroom, slam on her brakes, and slide clear across the room on her claws. There is not one scratch or mark on these floors from her doing that. One topic that needs specific attention before laying down these floors is surface prep, ie, the sub-floor that these floors will be laid down on. It's like any project, the proper preparation before the final coat of paint or laying of flooring will ensure that the project comes out perfectly. Preparation is the key. If you are not that confident is prepping your floors to ensure they are flat, I would recommend you find a competent flooring contractor who has well reviewed experience working with floating floors. A carpet company may not be your best bet. It is very important that the sub-floor must be flat! There can be NO more than 1/8 inch deviation in the floor over any 6 foot span. It is very important that you or your installer use a string or straight edge to ensure that your floors are this flat. If not, they must be made to be within those specifications before installation. Also before installation, make sure the sub-floor has been swept and vacuumed so that there are no items of debris, small stones, etc., that the floors will be on top of. The floors can not be laid down on top of debris. It's all these little steps taken before the actual floors are installed that will ensure years of satisfaction with these beautiful floors. Once the sub-floor is flat, the process of laying these floors is very easy. Ensure the first run of planks is straight for the room then simply click the plank into the locking tab, push it down and it locks into place. Tap each tightly into place with a rubber mallet and a floor blocking tool. The instructions will clearly show you how to do this simple process. Read The Instructions ! We had our large master bedroom flooring completely installed in one day. The end result was beautiful and we are sure we will get years of use and satisfaction out of this well made product.

Hard to install DIY, but looks great and good quality
Difficult to install DIY without miter saw, jig saw, and reciprocating hand saw at >60 teeth blades. Of 60 cases, 1 case worth were chipped, scratched, or broken male/female edges. After 5 days of just installation, it looks great, good quality, and so far moved a 500 lbs dining table on it with superslider felt padding on the legs with no scratches. If you have patience and the tools, this is worh it.
