Check the clearance requirements of the stove and add a few inches using tile or other masonry. We have a hearth and a wood-burning stove we fire 24/7. Installed this floor last month with an extension to the clearance requirements (extended the hearth PLUS laid 12 inch tile border between hearth and this floor. NO ISSUES. Even the tile is comfortable to touch. Would attach a pic if I could.
(DO NOT PUT UNDER CABINETS)....... IF YOU PUT A NEW FLOOR IN LATER AND YOU HAVE HALF OF A PIECE UNDER THE CABINET HOW ARE YOU GOING TO REMOVE HALF OF A PIECE ? YOUR NOT SO PLEASE THINK ABOUT TIS I'VE BEEN AROUND CONSTRUCTION ALL MY LIFE AND FORMAL TOOL AND DIE MAKER SO ALL CAN SAY IS NOT UNDER A CABINET IT WILL BE A HEADACHE FOR YOU LATER
did two bathrooms - just go over the old tile. why make more work when it is unnecessary?
according to the videos the manufacturer has about the product, no. so, you probably can, but not sure you should. I think the problem would be the soft underlayment that is pre-attached to the bottom. i think if you bought one of the cheaper versions that doesn't have the squishy underlayment it would work better.
Thanks for your question. The planks are waterproof. They won't swell, buckle, peel, etc. due to water but the entire installation is not water/flood/leak proof because moisture can seep between the seams.
YES it does and we’re told it doesn’t!
I have installed this flooring over plenty of concrete floors in both bathrooms and bedrooms and never had a problem, in fact I like it better on concrete than some of the other "snap-together" flooring I have done, because I think it is tougher and stand up better to traffic on this hard (concrete) surface. I am not sure what you mean by "radiant heater sheet", but if it has any kind of wires that are partially or very lightly imbedded in the product I don't think I would, because it will probably wear through over time, (remember it is a floating floor and moves with expansion and contraction). You might be surprised how much warmer this product is than bare concrete and you could do what we did, put a small bathroom runner or rug in there.
I find it fascinating that Halstead products said to not use vinegar when the instructions that come with the flooring say an occasional mopping with apple cider vinegar was fine. The instructions specifically mentioned apple cider not white which was interesting. The instructions also said never to steam clean as it could ruin the finish. Halstead - if you read this, I'd appreciate your take as your comment was different that the flooring instructions.
Thank you for your question- We recommend using the OdoBan Neutral cleaner. The OdoBan No-Rinse Neutral pH Floor Cleaner was formulated with a naturally derived surfactant system that safely and effectively cleans your floors and other surfaces without harmful chemicals. It removes soils, odors from urine, vomit, feces, blood and dirt, making it great for use in homes with pets. It leaves surfaces shining and streak-free.
I spray it with Theves cleaner, and then go over it with a wet swiffer mop.
