Questions & Answers

Q:Does Lifeproof Rigid Core Luxury Vinyl Flooring meet specs of IIC rating of 50 when installed and Delta IIC rating of 20 or higher? My condo insists on these specs.

Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for your question. The IIC and STC numbers will depend on the thickness of your concrete subfloor. You can see the testing numbers here: https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/2d/2d7aa89b-d1c6-4307-947b-0f9596a107ea.pdf

A:  Yes….I did 2 bathrooms a couple years ago and it has been perfect

A:  Yes! We have had no issues!

      by|Aug 9, 2023

A:  Thanks for your question. It's fine to install Lifeproof on tile as long as the tile is in good shape (no cracks, well adhered to the substrate, etc.) and adheres to all of the subfloor guidelines. If the grout lines are larger than 1/4" they also must be filled. Another satisfied customer with Powder Oak
We experienced another Kitchen renovation and decided to go with Lifeproof Powder Oak. The kitchen / family room looks great. The waterproof floors will be functional as people enter and exit the kitchen from the pool! Highly recommended.

            It’s lifeproof
My Portable AC leaked water onto my floor. There was huge puddle of water sitting on my newly installed floors. I cleaned up the water and found that no damaged was done. Powder Oak flooring is lighter than it looks and I’m glad I didn’t chose a brown or light brown flooring color. I had to get rid of carpet due to allergies. The scuff marks have come up after I wipe them. So far, no scratches on my flooring and I had it installed Febuary 2020. I don’t expect vinyl to withstand ALL bumps and nicks that happen but I have been impressed this flooring.

BEAUTIFUL. Absolutely beautiful floors. We spent a lot of time looking at various materials and colors and decided on the LifeProof Powder Oak floors. The floors really bring out the light in the house and we LOVE how bright it makes the rooms. We did close to 1800sq. Ft on our own. We took our time but it was fairly straight forward. A few tips to make your life significantly easier. There's 5 different patterns, make sure to buy plenty of boxes (and some extra) to get a decent variety of planks. Some of the boxes had 4 of the same planks sometimes which got frustrating. The manufacturer recommends scoring the planks and snapping them to cut them. Save yourself the time, hassle and pain. Use a circular saw or miter saw. Get a very fined toothed blade (we used 100 tooth). And just cut it like you would wood. The material is very easy to work with and you can get intricate with the cuts. Click lock system is very easy to use. I recommend not using a taping block, but rather use a scrap peice of flooring and use grooves on those to hammer(rubber) in the other peices. The grooves on the planks do break fairly easily, especially if dropped. We ruined plenty of planks by breaking off the corners when moving the planks around (save these and use them for end or starter peices). We've also learned that forcing the planks together is never a good idea. They should click in and then be tapped to seal the gap. If your having issues with closing the gap, it's usually some debris stuck in the grooves. Forcing it in will snap the edges of the plank. Same goes for removing planks. We made a few mistakes along the way and had to back track and remove planks that were already layed down. Most of them came up no problem, but the occasional planks edge would snap on removal. Water proofing is top notch. Spilled a cup of water on the floor and it pooled beautifully. Cleaned it right up with a towel. We've put felt pads on all our furniture and have had no issues with scratches or damage to the floors. One thing I will mention. Is that dirt, mulch, leaves, anything you treck into the house shows up very clearly. So be wary when picking a light color like the Powder Oak. As for cleaning, we've been using our canister vac with a hardwood floor attachment and it just glides across the floors.

This product is fantastic! I'm going to do the rest of the house in it. We're going to put it in the upstairs and basement. I just love it. It goes in seamless and looks fantastic at an extremely coat effective price. I can't rave enough about it.

I ordered two boxes of Powder Oak to install in a very small bathroom. Luckily they layout of the bathroom made for easy installation. I laid the flooring over a sanded plywood subfloor that had previously had carpet glued down onto it. I sanded the subfloor to remove excess carpet glue before laying. The color looks just like the Home Depot product photo. Very neutral. It is a dull finish with slight texture. Locks together very tight. I suspect it will hold up well in the bathroom. Water on the floor should not be a problem. I used a jigsaw with a vinyl cutting scroll saw blade to cut lengthwise. I used a scroll saw to cut widthwise. I used a small block of wood with a mallet to tap the plank edges together and the same soft faced mallet to tap down the seams at the width edges of the planks from the top surface. Be careful, as once locked in, the planks are not disassembled without damage to the locking system.- I tested on some scrap pieces of plank and could not unlock them without damaging the locking channels. Only time will tell how it holds up so I cannot comment on that as yet. Why only 4 stars for rating.

Listened to the contractor, big mistake
This is such a bad product. And I spent my savings on it! First it looks so nice, but its impossible to care for, since its very sensitive. It can't handle anything but natural fiber rugs, with a rug pad to be placed on top. The product can get stained, and marked by all kinds of things, my other vinyl doesn't care about. Only distilled water to clean it! Worse is the sound it makes! Clickity, click click when you walk across it. Worst product ever.
Very nice flooring easy to install.
