Questions & Answers

This machine is for stainless steel OR ALUMINUM ?

I need info. About this machine on the front info say u can weld stainless steel and steel and the other part say AC TIG LET ME KNOW IF U CAN WELD AC OR DC WHICH IS THE CORRECT WELD !
Asked by: Alfredo
This welder, using MIG and a spool gun, will weld aluminum. One of the reviewers incorrectly said you need AC to weld aluminum and you do if you are welding it with a TIG torch. Since this is a DC only welder, the only choice you have for welding aluminum is in the MIG mode. You might be able to get away with not using a spool gun if you buy ER5356 (stiff wire) and keep the gun hose straight. Aluminum is soft and has the tendency of bending in the gun hose and getting hung up - hence the reason for the spool gun

Is this strictly an ac machine or does it work on D.C. Polarity as well?

Asked by: Dan
This Runs a DC Operation. In other words, you cannot use this for Aluminum. (Other answers are in relation to AC power input, which it is AC from the wall plug, but the Post is about Output current which is DC)

Can this machine weld 6010 and 7018 3/32 rods?

Asked by: Alan
6010 is a difficult rod for inverter based machines so you might have difficulty with it. 6011 should be Ok as well a 7018 but you'd have to try 6010 to see. My experience is that it can be difficult to keep the rod going.
