can this pump be buried outside ? Does it have to discharge up ?
Asked by: BillM
The code in my state would not allow this to be installed outdoors as our winters are to cold but I am sure other states and inspectors might view it differently. I would run the application by either a qualified local contractor or the code endorsement person in your area. The discharge of this unit is our the top, Once you come out of the unit you could elbow and pump horizontally. In northern climates such as mine, I have a buried cement tank that acts as my pump chamber. The pump inside pumps horizontally out of the chamber to the sewer main. From there the system works on gravity.

Can this particular pump be used under the sink of a wet bar? Sink will also be used to dispose small amounts of food.
Asked by: Joe
In my experience you could but it seems a little excessive but then again I am not looking at the job directly. This ejector package is designed to be installed under the floor and has a 4" inlet so it can handle a toilet. Over sizing sewage ejectors can be almost as bad a under sizing them. I would have your plumber look at the application as they may suggest something a little more appropriate based on the specifics. By over sizing pumps they don't work "less hard" and last longer.

What is the vertical lift capacity? Horizontally how many feet away can it pump bathroom waste?

Asked by: Luis
All pumps are rated on a curve or graph. On one axis is the heights refereed to as head and on the other is the amount of fluid it will pump. This particular sewage ejection package is equipped with the 9SN series pump. At 0-5' of height is will pump 110 gallons per minute. At 10' the flow will drop to 75 GPM, At 15' it is 25 GPM and 20' is the point at which it dead heads. Which is a fancy way of saying that is the highest it can go and is the point at which flow drops to 0. When sizing a pump. You first want to calculate the total dynamic head; the total height your pumping. Then find a pump where the sweet spot, meaning the center of the pumps curve matches your need. This will assure that you have enough power and are not overtaxing the motor. As to your second question. The distance does not really matter. First because most of the pumps capacity is consumed by fighting gravity so going horizontal does not use much And second because once you lift the water the run should be handled by gravity and the pipe should be pitched like any other drain line. Does this item have a top extension? I need to come a little higher to ground level.

Asked by: jw
Normally you would install this such that the top is flush to the top of the cement floor. I assume what you are saying is that you need to sink the tank deeper in the ground so that the waste pipe lines up with the bung on the side of the tank. No extension ring is offered however I would think you could fabricate one easily. Feel free to give me a call if you would like to talk about this. Chris 978 651 3301
