I want to buy a pump that will move 60 gallons of water from my sump tank vertically a total of 9...

Asked by Fishguy October 19, 2020

Answer

All pumps are rated on graphs call "pump curves" on one axis you have the height you are lifting which is called the "head" the other axis is the flow rate. The graph called the curve illustrates pump performance at all different points across its range. If you open the speciation sheet for this pump you will find its curve. The pdf of the specification sheet is found under the header "info and guides" on the Home Depot product listing page. The curve indicates that at 9' of head this pump will move 200 gallons an hour. So not even close to the 900 you are looking for. So No this is not the right pump for what you have described. As you review other pumps keep in mind it is a best practice to size a pump where your needs fall in the center of the pumps curve. You do not want to over size or under size. Also you mentioned the horizontal runs. Pumps fight gravity. Moving water horizontally takes little to no force. so the horizontal runs are some what irrelevant.

how long is the electric cord? Does it come with a 20' cord option?

Answer

15' per the spec sheet found under the header Info and Guides on the Home Depot product listing page. That is the longest cored offered.

which pump will pump water up12-14ft from my small pond?

Pumps are rated on a graph called a pump curve. One one axis are heights and on the other is the flow rate. The curve for this pump is illustrated on the specification sheet. A pdf of which is on the listing page for this product found on the Home Depot web site. You will find it under "Info and Guides" It shows that the flow rate for this pump drops to zero at 11 feet. So this pump would not be appropriate for your application. As you did not indicate a desired flow rate I am unable to recommend a pump.

Someone in the review section mentioned a bag so the pump does not clog where do you find this item?

Asked by Pond June 17, 2017
1
Answer

The bag you speak of is referred to as a "pond pump sock" or at least it is in my area of the country. Little Giant use to offer one in there line, however it was discontinued. The reason for this is that they did not make it and over the years companies have taken the initiative to make them in all sorts of sizes, both over all and in mesh size. You may want to go to a local store that sells water garden supplies to see what variants they have. In my pond I use a sand bag. The sand bags are of a plastic weave and work perfectly given the size pebbles on the bottom of my pond. They are also cheap and plentiful. So I just replace them when they either get clogged or break down due to the sun. Before that I was buying mesh bags but they were so fine they they required to much maintenance.

Does this pump come with the power cord? If so how long is the cord

Answer

Yes it does and it is 15'

Description says "adjustable flow valve" what is the flow range?

Asked by Larry March 5, 2017
1
Answer

On the listing page of the item on the Home Depot web site is a downloadable copy of the specification sheet and the installation manual. In the installation manual is the following information on adjusting the flow. Adjust the flow rate by turning the flow control located on the front of the pump.To reduce the flow rate further, place a valve on the discharge side of the pump or, if flexible tubing is used, a clamp on the tubing. Now as the flow is going to change depending on the total dynamic head there is not static answer to your question, Basically it would depend on how high you are pumping within the limitations of the pump.

In addition to the pump itself, what else included?

Asked by Shane November 18, 2016

Answer

This product comes with just the pump and an instruction sheet. There is nothing else included.

Is it noise

Asked by paul September 19, 2015
1
Answer

I am sorry for the delay but I wanted to provide you with an objective number such as a sound level in DB's. So I have been on the phone with the engineering dept to get this information. Unfortunately there no testing has been carried out so I can not offer you that and i apologize. They did indicate that it makes very little noise and when it does it is the result of the other components in the system not the pump. Meaning the noise would come from the movement of water through the tube or other appliances, but not from any cavitation in the volute. If it turns out not to meet your expectations you are welcome to return it. And again I am sorry I can;t be more specific.

Pump is great and working fine doing it's job. Probably will replace it with the same if or when it quits. Hopefully that will be years from now. The old one ran 5 years almost 24/7 except for the winter months when we winterize it.
