Is this product in the store or must it be ordered?

I ordered it online. Be sure to read all directions and keep it clean. When you install, make sure to replace all the pvc pipe coming from furnace and going into Little Giant. You'll be glad you did.

I assume you are talking the barb that the hose attaches to, that screws into the condensate pump. But I am not certain from your description. Please give me a call so we can discuss. Chris 978 651 3301

what is the difference between 15UL vs 20UL

Asked by Ric January 15, 2021

That has to do with the maximum head (height) that the pump can push water to. Fifteen feet (15 UL) is probably good for most situations but if you have a deeper basement or a long run of pipe may require 20UL.

Can the clear tubing run to the outside? Will it freeze in the Midwest?

Asked by Rick April 14, 2020

The pump kicks on when the container fills and completely drains out through the hose. Depending on how fsst it collects determines frequency of pumping. It would freeze if the line didnt drain out each time with the help of gravity. I suggest moving south.

How often does this run? Since working from home due to the Covid-19, I have heard it 3 times in the past 2 weeks.

Asked by Ljones March 29, 2020

Depends entirely on what the source of condensate into this unit is, and how often that source runs. For example: If the source is a high efficiency condensing hot water heater and you don't use hot water it will never run you run a laundry mart and there's a lot of hot water usage, there will be lots of condensate and it will run very often If the source is a high efficiency condensing Boiler and It is warm outside, the boiler won't run, so this little pump won't run at all It is very cold outside, the boiler runs often, there will be lots of condensate and it will run very often If the source is a dehumidifier it runs to transfer the water vapor removed from the air (turned into liquid) Hope you get the point by now.

Can i use this pump for the ice maker?

Asked by Greg January 20, 2020

Answers

Yes if you are pumping melted water. Sometimes condensate from a freezer or refrigerator is collected intentionally to assist cooling the compressor. If the water is collected into a tray near a fan leave it and let it evaporate. I ruined two $500 compressors learning that.

Can the tubing on the discharge of this unit be changed out with PVC piping.

Asked by Triniman January 9, 2020

The discharge can feed into a pvc with a down hill slope. The hose is 1/4 inch so the pressure will work and the water will not back flow into the unit.

My pump seems to be running long periods of time but have noticed not much water in the hose is there a manual switch

The float switch may be bad. When it goes bad the pump will continue running regardless of the float position. You can either buy a new pump or replace the switch. Switch details below: 950337 (original Little Giant part number) VCMX-MS (for MicroSwitch) 83133169 (Crouzet Switch Technologies part number)

This unit comes with an integral check valve.

I had it for 11 years in which it worked very reliably. I would add lemi shine to prevent hard water build up on the internal components. The screw mounts could be better designed to be stress free to prevent cracking of the housing as evident in the picture by the warning label. Easy to disassemble to clean. A clear top or bottom housing would make seeing if the unit needed to be cleaned easier. Satisfied for I bought a replacement unit that came in very good condition. Still using old one but have a spare for when the old one dies.

Not much to say, really. HVAC w/humidifier had a drain that ran directly into slab and would occasionally backup. Re-directed drain pipe to pump and ran outlet tube into the waste pipe (with loop in tubing). Easily handles humidifier water and is quiet.

This purchase replaces the original condensate pump for our gas-fired boiler. I had originally planned to call the technician who services the boiler, but when I couldn't get through (all of the service trades are buried in work thanks to our scalding hot economy) I decided to do a bit of research. The Little Giant was about 25% lower in price than the OEM unit, but I chose it on the basis of several hundred uniformly high ratings. Thus far I have been entirely satisfied with its performance. The pump is both more powerful and quieter than its predecessor. It was intuitively easy to install; there is a small cardoard tab that protects the electrical contacts during shipment. Removal of this strip prior to operation, deciding which of the available drain inlets makes most sense to use, reinstalling the rigid drain from the boiler, installing the flexible drain line on the nipple at the top of the pump deck, and plugging the power cord into a grounded receptacle is the extent of the installation challenge, a great advantage for a mechanically challenged individual like me. Overall, the whole process from unopened carton to finished installation was the work of about ten minutes. For the minimum that my highly valued technician would have charged to walk through the door, I could buy a half dozen of these pumps. While I was waiting the two or three days for the pump to arrive, I used an old dishpan to catch the condensation and emptied it twice a day. You can do that.

I was a maintenance electrician for 30 years and used a lot of these Little Giant pumps. They worked great, and lasted a long time then and still do. My personal opinion is for the money they can not be beat.

The right product for my home use
This is truly a plug-n-play product...so easy to set up, anybody can do it. This only took me 5 minutes from opening the box to turning the pump on. It is replaced a different brand (hat lasted only two years) and has been running flawlessly with heavy usage for the past month. No issue yet...and don't expect any...as have always been pleased with Little GIANT products.

Does its job.
Very affordable price and it does its job. It was very easy to install and saw it working right away. Old condensate pump was flooding and this one is not leaking a drop. The only problem is that at night it gets a little noisy, you can hear all the suctioning, but then again my room is right next to it.
