Questions & Answers

Wil Loctite 0.85 fl. oz. Aqua Marine Epoxy adhere thread inserts into fiberglass and plastic?

Jet ski lost intake grate, due to threads pulling out. I want to add thread inserts to existing holes. Two holes are fiberglass and two holes are plastic.
Asked by: scott
You may want to use 3m 5200. This would work but more for filling holes and bonding two things that are broken together again. it may flow too much before gets hard. Unless filling hole and waiting to harden and re tap the hole for the screw.

Can loctite marine epoxy sustain pressure?

Asked by: Brian
I'm not exactly sure by what you mean "sustain pressure". I used the product to laminate/bond two pieces of wood together, where the finished product will get washed daily in a home dishwasher. While it is too early to tell if it will meet this requirement, I selected the Marine Grade epoxy for this reason. Sorry I can't answer your question more directly, and hope this helps you some.

can this seal a crack in a fiberglass tub?

can this seal a crack in a fiberglass tub?
Asked by: willow
Yes, The Loctite Marine Epoxy can be used but the success of the repair will depend upon the nature of the crack in the tub. If it is in areas where the fiberglass can flex it may not hold up well without some sort of support from beneath. Typically, a crack indicates there is stress from movement.

What color is the epoxy?

What color is the epoxy?
Asked by: Kerry
It has been a few months since I used the product, but believe the color is gray, (after it is mixed). I used it to make a handle for a carving fork, and the product worked great.
