Overview

Loctite Tite Foam is a new generation of polyurethane-based insulating foam sealant that expands to fill, seal and insulate gaps and cracks inside or out. It is white polymer foam based on purified and concentrated ingredients that provides four times more density versus conventional foams for better durability and insulation. It is easy to use and apply with its attached straw applicator and provides a quick durable seal from the elements. It can be used for multiple applications including sealing out drafts, moisture and pests. Its excellent UV resistance reduces brittles and discoloring. Loctite Tite Foam has very strong adhesion to substrates, while still providing flexibility to move with building materials after cured. It can be used on both interior and exterior projects.

Questions & Answers

I have gaps in my hard wood floors. Would this work to fill the gaps? Sand it down & stain it to match??

Asked by: Louie
Unfortunately, you did not make it clear as to what type of "gaps" you have or their size (i.e., are they structural cracks or is it the gap between boards, etc). If you intend for this to be used where it can be seen or people will walk on it or something of substantial weight will be placed on it, then, the answer is that you should, probably, NOT use this product. However, I have used it in floor areas that are out-of-sight and have no structural issues, and, of which, I could not bring the boards closer together (as may be done with laminate), and I did so only because there was a draft coming through the subflooring from the basement (I sealed the basement 1/2" hole with the foam!), which no other remedy would have worked (i.e., too big for caulk or wood putty).

Like all expanding foams, it will deteriorate if it is left directly in the sun, but I have found success by painting a thick layer over the top. Since it has a somewhat porous surface, it will work best if sprayed.

Asked by: Freddy
Well honestly, that's why I purchased it. But if you are looking to block a constant source of water seepage I would first locate the source and fix it but this is a good stopgap measure and to keep out the random water

I used it to seal a drain pipe penetration of a wall and that worked well. Foam hardens within an hour. Unless you clean the applicator hose and valve you should consider this a single use product.

Very disappointed as there were no instructions plus the the spray nozzle kept coming off as I was using this overhead causing quite a mess. I don't even know if I used the entire contents of the can.

Worked great, but the adhesive within the foam later prevented the valve from closing toward the end of the the product (when the can was close to empty). This made the remainder of the foam slowly come out until it was completely empty. Luckily I needed the majority of the can.

Apparently that is cold enough to keep it from working. Even ones that got cold and were brought in the house never worked correctly. The last ones I bought were used immediately when I got home and they worked fine.

The sound deadening properties are excellent. But the extra density makes it a little tougher to clean up, so make sure you have a sharp knife to trim away the excess. I have found that it's difficult to use a can a second time. Either the tube is not clean enough from the prior use or there doesn't seem to be enough pressure in the can to get the rest of the product out. It's best to consider the can a "one time use" item.

Flows a little different and seems to be more liquid than other phone products I have used. I wore gloves and use the whole cannot so I can’t really comment on the cleanup. Once it dried I was able to chip it back to make it flush.
