will this bond fireplace veneer to cender block

Answer

Thank you for the question. The Loctite PL 500 can bond these materials, however if your project does involve placement around a fireplace then this product would not be well suited for the application and would not be recommended for safety reasons. Areas where heat generation is possible can cause adhesive failure. You should consult the fireplace veneer manufacturer for proper installation instructions. Typically, a thin set mortar type product should be used in these situations.

I don't think this product is fire rated for the heat the pit will produce. There is a chance it will ignite or burn off if it gets to hot. You may be better off dry stacking the blocks without an adhesive.

Hi Maggie...I would not use Loctite PL500 to join two pieces of artificial turf, on the seam tape. I would be afraid that it would push through the tiny holes in the turf and come out to spoil the green blades. Turf Tack glue and Turf Glue are both adhesives that I have used to do this. Even then, you have to carefully apply this glue in a small quanity so that it doesn't come through the tiny holes as well.

Adhering synthetic grass to bricks

Answers

The Loctite PL 500 is a solvent based adhesive and not intended for this type of use. It may not be compatible with the synthetic grass backing. You might consider trying a polyurethane adhesive such as PL Premium Fast Grab or the PL Premium MAX. In either case, whatever you choose to use, you should test for adhesion and compatibility first before starting the project to determine suitable and acceptable results.

Below freezing temps will most likely cause excess moisture build up. I would wait till temps are above freezing at night.

I busted a 50 lb. plus cement planter pot ... will it mend the two intact halves together?

Well, I went ahead and used the PL 500 , and the bond was so initially tight I could not separate the halves after a few moments. I'm sure when it fully cured before I even put the plant back in it will do the job I bought it for! Thanks for all the replies too.

when gluing a 4x8 paver on top of another, how large of a gap is created?

It depends on how hard you press down on the top paver. I put two globs on each paver and pressed down enough to reduce the gap to less than 1/8 inch. I do not notice the gap when looking at the wall. But it does allow water to seep through the retaining wall.

Can it use to full in paver gaps on a walkway?

Thank you for the question. The PL 500 is not designed for this intended use and would not be recommended.

Thank you for the question. Based on the project description where the block steps now need to be stabilized, the PL 500 would not be well suited for the repair. Because the steps shimmy and rock as you described, mortar would be the preferred method of repair for safety reasons. You could try a polyurethane adhesive such as the Loctite PL Premium assuming you gain access to the total bonding area but also understanding that a construction adhesives used in this situation may not provide the necessary leveling needed to stabilize the blocks from rocking and may only provide temporary results long term.

I used this product to bond my retaining wall block caps to the blocks. Behind my retaining wall is 15 inches of gravel for drainage. Between the drain rock and the soil is a non woven filter fabric (soil seperator). The filter fabric loops over the top of the gravel as well keeping the topsoil from going downward into the gravel. But i also used this product to bond the filter fabric to the top of the last course of blocks as i put the caps on. Both the fabric is secure as are the caps. I just wish it came in the larger caulking tubes. I went through quite a few tubes.
