Q:I have to seal around a pipe coming into the roof of my shed. No room for flashing. Will your caulking work for this?

1 Answer
Answer This Question
A:Â Thank you for the question. Loctite PL Roof & Flashing Polyurethane Sealant may or may not work with the intended use of application. Your success will depend on the composition of the surfaces the sealant needs to adhere to and the dimensions of the joint you plan to seal. We recommend testing for suitability and adhesion, before beginning your entire project, to determine if the product is suitable and acceptable for your needs.

Q:For some reason the roofers here do not use step flashing where the shingles meet a verticle 2nd story stucco wall. Short of ripping off the roof and installing step flashing, could this product provide a lasting seal on a 5 year old roof.

Answer This Question
A:Â Thank you for the question. It is not possible to know whether Loctite Polyurethane Roofing and Flashing Sealant can provide the results you are expecting in lieu of proper step flashing in your roof construction. We do not know your local building code requirements and this is something you should be asking your local building department that oversees your area.

This was relatively easy to use. The sealant is extremely messy so wear gloves. It "glued" the shingles to each other sufficiently as far as I could determine. I would like to review again after hurricanes but there is no way to do that.

I needed something to seal a few roof vents, and this was recommended. So I tried it, and it worked great. I applied it over existing mastic, I know that's not recommended, but it worked. The trick is to cover the entire area, not just a spot. It's a bit hard to get out of the tube due to it's low viscosity, make sure it is warm before using. It is super tacky and immediately sticks to anything it touches, which makes it easy to apply. It spreads pretty well too, using a gloved finger it was easy to seal the vents. Got some on my fingers but it comes off easily with coconut oil or other vegetable oil. The tubes don't look like the picture, see my pic for the actual product label.

It's caulk
It's okay, took a lot of pressure to get it out of the tube. It might have been old. I filled the cracks and I covered it up!
