I"ve used this glue for several years and it never lets me down.
The activator pen is easy to use and once applied, the actual adhesive (some sort of instant glue variant) bonds in seconds. I've attached a picture of a bond between ABS and polypropylene using the bonding system. The contact area is very small but the bond is solid and holds up to moderate flexing/ pulling very well. My only complaint is the design of the adhesive tube design. Its a metal tube attached to a plastic nozzle/cap and after a very short time, either the nozzle clogs, the cap gets stuck on or the tube gets completely dried out. So when you buy this, plan on using it up within a short time for best results. I've seen several people on here complain about the activator pen being dried up. I've purchased this glue 5-6 times and have never had that problem. The clear activator liquid evaporates almost instantly when you apply it so it may seem like its dried up when it isn't. Whatever it is, it makes the bond super strong - I'm curious to know exactly what the activator does to the polypropylene to allow the glue to stick so well - but suppose that's a trade secret.

Actuator dry in 3 packets
The first one I bought, the actuator was dry so I bought another and it was dry also. Bought a 3rd and it was also dry. Package says to wait 60 seconds for the actuator to dry so I'm assuming it would be somewhat wet. I cut open the actuator on all three, The interior is a cotton filling that would contain the actuator and then transfer it to the fiber tip to apply. The cotton filling in all three were COMPLETELY DRY. Don't know if these were a bad batch, or that there is a shelf life and Home Depot just had them too long, or what the issue was, but I'm not going to buy a 4th. Poor quality on the part of Loctite.

Thank you for taking time to share your feedback. We are so sorry to learn of your experience. The activator is a solvent prep/adhesion promoter that is clear color and sometimes very hard to see on objects being bonded. Checking the activator on a piece of white or yellow paper will definitely provide a visual of solvent presence by wetting the paper. Keep in mind the activator evaporates very quickly on bonding surfaces. If there is no evidence of a wet spot on paper, then it is possible the product was expired product. Lot code information can be found on the activator tube. However, as with all items sold through retailers, a product should be returned to the place of purchase for exchange or refund. These stores do receive credit from Loctite for returning a defective product but more important the store location needs to know. Thank you again for your feedback.

I would buy this again. The glue has done a good job of holding but was difficult to work with.
Okay so I used this glue to connect HDPE composite decking pieces together. This was the only adhesive home depot had that said it could connect HDPE plastics so i bought it. I also bought all the other heavy duty adhesives and gave those a try too! Guess what? All the glues held until the piece was hit or dropped except Plastic Bonding System. Those pieces held strong as if they were fused together. ;)
So i have gained a lot of experience using this product. I had to purchase over 40 packages of this to glue together a compass rose I built using pieces cut from Deckorators composite decking. There were many joints on the design that needed to be glued together. The glue was runny and ran onto the finished face of the decking and onto my fingers and onto the work surface below but it didn't stick to the surface of the decking! I only had to wipe it off with a painters rag before it could dry.
Did you read that part about getting it on my fingers? It did! This product is runny and that was a good thing for helping to cover the whole area before the glue would set because that is a short working time. Make sure you wear glove when using this glue. In fact it would be smart to wear glasses too because the glue could easily splash when dispensing it because it so water like.
It has worked so far, only three days (Laughing out loud), but I'm using screws in addition to the glue to hold the pieces to a backer board. This thing is going to be getting cold in the winter and really hot in the summer. I guess time will tell how this project holds up to the elements.
The cap and packaging could be improved though. When the tear the paper back of the plastic front the glues cap will fall out because its not attached to the glue tube. This was very annoying during the use of over 40 tubes. The whole time i had to keep catching the cap so it wouldnt fall off the table and get lost. The flow of glue from the tubes was inconsistent from tube to tube. Sometimes it came out with just a little squeeze and other time it didn't come out until almost all the tube was compressed. And I am skeptical if the tube really contain 2g of glue, sometime there seemed to be very little glue coming and and other times seemed to have tons of glue. Guess it averaged out over the 40+ tubes I used on the project. btw I had to go to 5 different stores to buy it all and lowes doesn't stock it.

Plastic bonding system... I doubt i used it wrongly but first attempt at plastic bonding didn't work so well as the broken plastic pieces broke again to the touch. Then it plastic bonded its own cap and nozzle preventing further use. Subsequently even after it plastic bonded its own cap and nozzle the contents started hardening and in the end it is useless. Absolutely useless. Now im wondering if this can be returned since it completely failed.

I have a pair of Plantronics Bluetooth headphones that had broken. The plastic part that wraps over the ear had snapped, but the ribbon cable inside was still working. As a matter of fact I wore them several times while the ear piece was broken.
I tired a few different products but the bond just wouldn't hold. I was skeptical about this product, but for the price it was worth a try - one heck of a lot cheaper than buying a new Bluetooth headset!
Followed instructions: used primer pen (it is just like a highlighter marker) on both sides of the headset, then a little bit of glue on one side. Pushed the two sides together and did my best to align. Held it for about 60 seconds. Let it rest for 10 minutes then proceeded to wear them doing yard work. It worked perfectly! I'm also a runner and I've worn them to run about 20 miles in the past 10 days. They continue to function just like new and the side I glued is nearly indistinguishable. I included a picture of the seam/crack that I glued up.
I'm searching for other things to glue up - well worth my money!

Greatest bond for plastic
I'm mystified how this terrific epoxy could have so many 1,2,&3 star reviews. I followed the instructions to the letter, and it fixed my polypropylene boat, yes, an 8 ft dinghy that had a crack you could run a butter knife through. It's been in the water twice a week for four months and shows no sign of failure. Plus the hardening time was fast. West System epoxy is not a reliable fix for polypropylene, and that's why I bought this stuff.

Don't buy it!
Activator was totally dry. Product was useless.
There is no way to apply the activator.

Not quite as advertised
I bought dozens of these for bonding nearly 100 feet of polyethylene plastic, which the packaging and Loctite website both say this will work with. I find it to be only slightly better than regular CA glue - it doesn't actually "bond" polyethylene and is too easily split apart after the 24-hour drying period. There is way more activator than needed for the amount of glue provided. Do not be fooled by the glue's tube size - it's actually only about half full, the rest is air. Of the dozens I bought, several were a gel-like consistency resulting in a bead-line of only about 4" and then the tube was empty. The rest were your regular watery consistency and drew a bead-line of about 4 feet. (That is why I needed dozens, due to the material length I was gluing.) The glue inconsistency, tubes half-filled with air, and weak adhesion to polyethylene adds up to disappointing results. Might work fine for smaller projects with other plastics, but it definitely shouldn't be your go-to glue for polyethylene or polypropylene.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, Mike. Based on the description of your project the Plastics Bonding system may not have been well suited for the application or intended use. The project sounds too big in nature. The Loctite Plastics Bonding System is designed for repair situations and does work on most all rigid plastics, but it does depend on a couple of factors. 1. The amount of available bonding surface. 2. The area being repaired must fit precisely together to make a perfect fit without any gaps. 3. The amount of stress the assembled piece may be subject to. 4. If the repaired area is subject to hot liquids. 5. the glue it will not work if it is to be used as a crack or seam repair. If any of these situations or conditions exist, the glue will not work. We would like to know more about your application and repair so we can possibly help you have a better experience. Please call our Help Line at 1-800-624-7767 so we can help. Thank you again for sharing. We look to hear from you soon.

I hope it world work to bond a broken plastic...
I hope it world work to bond a broken plastic anatomical skull model. I’d read this was the only stuff that would work.
Unfortunately, although I glued it according to the instructions and left it to dry for 24 hours, the piece immediately broke off again.
