Double Dutch Oven
Excellent pot. Started using it for baking bread from day 1. Love it!! It’s really a double function. I used the lid as a frying pan. The result was amazing. You won’t go wrong with this product. I recommend 100%. Ps. Although it is pre-seasoned, I recommend seasoning it again just to be on the dafe side. Check Loge website for care instruction.

Very versatile Dutch Oven
OVERALL: Nice size and quality for a dutch oven. Usable pan top is nice for camping, though it makes it somewhat harder to remove top than top handle designs. SURFACE: Finish rougher that my older lodge pan, but that may fade as the original seasoning wears off. Seasoning also needs to be supplemented by frying something in it first run. USABILITY: Great for bread in the oven, 100% cast iron. Great for tempura as high sides reduce splatter. Great for long slow cooking dishes like split pea soup. Lid pan is a nice pan, but really only in a pinch.

Cast Iron Perfection
This cast iron dutch oven is heavy at 12 lbs and well made. I got it primarily to bake bread using Ken Forkish's book. This dutch oven is one of two that he recommends. It's been decades since I've used cast iron cookware so there was a new learning curve. First I cooked hash browns with oil in the lid and they stuck pretty badly. After scrubbing it out I didn't dry it completely and ended up with rust spots. The manual says to re-season with vegetable oil. When using it to bake bread be sure to use a high temperature oil for seasoning. The bread I made in it turned out beautifully with a thick, crispy crust. This is an ideal version of a cast iron dutch oven.

Best Dutch Oven Ever
I love my new Lodge 5quart cast iron dutch oven with skillet lid. I've owned other Lodge dutch ovens and their quality is the best on the market. This one is special because it also comes with a skillet lid, so it's two cooking units. The 5 quart oven is deep for stews, breads, dump cakes and more. The skillet lid is also deep and so nice for cooking breakfast or veggies. It comes pre seasoned, so it is ready to use. it also comes with a nice, clear instructions on cleaning and maintenance. I'd definitely recommend it for the homeowner or professional dutch oven chef.

Very Nice Product!
The 5 QT. CAST IRON DUTCH OVEN WITH SKILLET LID will get a lot of use in my house. The lower section, the pot, makes a great fryer for some double dipped fried chicken. The top part, the lid, is not only a lid but it can also be used as a frying pan. Two pieces of kitchen basics in one! The pieces come already seasoned so cook away when it arrives! One thing about cast iron cookware, after you wash the pot or the lid you want to completely dry the cast iron so rust wont form. When dry you can give the cast iron a wipe with a paper towel that has some vegetable oil on it. Very easy to use and I do recommend!

This is perfect for my sourdough. The lid sits nicely into a ridge in the pot to create the needed seal, and the lid can be turned with the handles adjacent to the pot handles for easy removal while hot with bulky oven mitts

Double Dutch Oven is well suited to bread baking. Without knob, the lid use the lid as the pan, and the pot as the lid, easier access when baking. Can be hard to find, but HD stocks it.

Bought thIs pan to bake homemade sourdough bread. The pan needs to be preheated before baking bread. The cast iron is so thick that the inside and does not get hot enough to effectively rise the bread. Once heated in the oven (empty) for 30-60 mins, it works great and makes beautiful bread!
