In the list on the main page for this ladder it says: "Fits ceilings 10 ft. to 12 ft. 9 in. high". Is this really true. Turns out that my garage ceiling is exactly 12'9", and this is the ONLY ladder I have found for which rhe accompanying information says it will work with a 12'9" ceiling height. All other suppliers either want an arm and a leg to "specially" prepare a ladder for me or they just say "sorry, you'll just have to build a little 9" platform. So, is this statement that it qorks for 12'9" ceilings too good to be true, or is it really true?
Asked by: Frank
It's true. The application I used it for was 12' 3" and I had to cut 6" off of it.

Does this come standard with the easy pull stick ? Or standard rope pull ?

Asked by: Greg
It is shipped with a metal pole to open the ladder. Do to the length of this ladder you will need to use a step ladder along side to safely unfold the sections.

Can this ladder be used for a loft that the ladder would be mounted on a vertical wall instead of in the ceiling? if not, what ladder would you recommend?
Asked by: Will
No, it can't be mounted on a wall. Has to be mounted in a ceiling.

Everest 10 ft. - 12 ft., 22.5 in. x 63 in. Aluminum Attic Ladder with 350 lb. Load Capacity is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 259.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ladder...here's how to install it without killing yourself Ok...I've seen reviews complaining about the difficulty lifting this into the hole. Get a helper. Lift the assembly into the attic. Get 2 pieces of 1x4 approx 32" wide. Have all tools, nails, etc. needed to install in attic. Screw 2 pieces of 1x4 across front and back of opening. Carefully place attic ladder on top of braces. Adjust straps provided and nail them in. Remove screws in 1x4s and continue installation. Also, additional measurements that might be helpful before ordering: Rough opening: 25 1/2 x 63" Landing space (from hinges to where ladder hits ground if extended to full height of 12 ft): 90" Swing clearance (when door is open, distance from bottom hinge of first section parallel to floor needed to open next section of ladder): 92" Landing space will be proportionally less if your ceiling is lower and you have to trim the last section of the ladder. First section of ladder is 57", next 2 are 54" each. Just to clarify..landing space is distance parallel to floor from hinges to where ladder hits floor.

Since my local Home Depot store does not carry 10 plus feet attic ladders in-store I ordered via HomeDepot website site and had delivered to the store for pickup. Received in great condition, good documentation, well made and square. The install hardware included (nails) are useless as you need to use 1/4 lag bolts to secure the stairs to the ceiling joists. I have probably installed dozens of wooden attic ladders, but this was the first install that was aluminum. Much lighter in weight, easier to handle and install in taller ceiling heights. I will purchase only aluminum versions in the future! I have only three (minor/picky) complaints: In my opinion, inadequate install hardware (nails) The product packaging states an easy hanger to assist you in the install. Don't bother, is useless in my opinion. The ladder has grab handles on the left side, but needs at lease one handle on the right side. Very pleased with the product overall, deserves five stars.

The aluminum ladder is of good construction and feels sturdy but the wooden frame appears substandard and doesn't seem very strong. However, as long as the frame is anchored well and mounted/shimmed square into the overhead rafter beams, it becomes very sturdy and then there won't be any issue. Recommend drilling holes in the wooden frame for the nails or bolts that are used to secure it in place so the wood does not split. Good product overall.

Each time the ladder arrived, whether picked up at the store itself or delivered directly to my home, it was all smashed and bent. Nails coming out. Wood framing not put together properly, with wood cut at different lengths and asymmetric. Ladder itself was crooked, with bent hinges. Very poor quality.

The top five steps are not deep enough to put your foot into because that part is boxed in to hide the stairs when closed. You have to stand on the front part of your foot on those steps. Would be better if the steps of the ladder were deeper than a regular ladder. Other wise it works.

Also, when pushing the latter up even with the extension pole it is very hard to get the ladder into the closed position without it wanting to fall down to the floor. IIt was assembled somewhat wrong, and wouldn't unfold because one of the hand rails was interfering with the locking hinge. I had to drill out the rivets and remove the handrail, which is not ideal. It's a nice ladder though.

For a ladder that is built for 10-12 foot ceilings it is difficult to take down and fold back up the bottom sections after you pull down from the ceiling and when your putting it away.
