how to load this grease gun

It says it uses the standard 3" grease cartridge, but that will not fit in this gun. The OD of the gun is 1 1/4" and the OD of the cartridge is also 1 1/4". The ID of tube on this grease gun is 1 1/16". Won't fit. I tried everything I could think of. I folded over the cartridge to get it in, but it would only go in as far as the fold. Just would not work. I have tried to find a cartridge that had an OD of 1/16", but can't find one. Any tip on how to get this to work?

Had no problem using Lucas Oil 3 oz. Lubricant (3-Pack) Cartridges. Found at this link: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Lucas-Oil-3-oz-Lubricant-3-Pack-10315/202521531

Yes you can fill the tube with grease if you prefer to do so.

Does this gun use STANDARD 3oz cartridges or ONLY Lucas 3oz cartridges? Some of the current answers say will accept std.s but at least one answer says have to use Lucas only.

It will use any 3oz cartridges. They are standard. Lucas cartridges are the same as any other.

How do you get the fitting off of the rigid shaft to put on the flexible tube?

How do you get the fitting off of the rigid shaft to put on the flexible tube?

I had to fight with it a bit. I ended up using two pairs of channel lock pliers and it finally broke loose. Be careful touching the rigid section after, the metal can get fairly sharp from the force. Good luck.
