(What's this)
This is the first folding wood ruler I’ve owned and I like this one. I am used to using the retractable metal rules, but I wanted to see what the wood rule offered that the metal ones don’t. Well I find there are places where the wood ruler works better for me than the metal ones. When checking the distance between the table sawblade and the fence, I found that it was much easier for me to get a good reading with the wood ruler. When I was trying to determine how much I would have to raise a board to get it level with another one I was able to get the wood ruler to support itself while I held one end of the level in place and then raised the other end to get the reading. I would have needed a third hand to do this with a metal rule. I also like the easy to read numbers and fraction of inch markings. It may take me a while to get used to opening and closing the rule, but it won’t try to snap back on me while I am learning.

(What's this)
The Lufkin folding wood rule is six feet long by 5/8 inch wide and has markings every 1/16 of an inch. It also identifies 16 inch stud centers with red numbers. The joints click into place well and hold their position. I was able to extend the full ruler horizontally without support and it did not collapse but it did sag slightly. I observed a few interesting points while using the ruler: 1) While the markings at the beginning of the ruler start at 0 they stop at 71-3/4 inches at the end 2) Nine sections have bold dark numbering and three sections have non bold lettering 3) The two middle sections are non bold on both sides 4) The two end sections are bold on one side and non bold on the other 5) The picture on website is of model 066 but I received model 066F which has a different style of end cap that has no marking printed on it 6) Some of the printing is washed out 7) The website indicates marking on sides and edges but my product had no edge markings

I forgot how useful a wood rule could be! I picked this wood rule as I hadn't had one in my tool box for years. I had forgotten how useful these rules are! They are perfect for measuring fixed length items that are longer than your arms reach. I compared the measurements with a quality metal ruler I had on hand - perfect accuracy! The quality of this rule is excellent. The joints move smoothly, in both directions and the printed graphics are clear for any measurement. Large print also, so easy on the eyes! Great price - pick one up for your toolbox!

(What's this)
I have never used a wood rule before, but I think it is something I will be reaching for more frequently. The big advantage is it will lay flat and not try to roll back up on itself like a typical tape measure does. I don't know if it is just me or not, but every break on my tape measure stops working within a few months. The rule itself is well made and feels sturdy. My two year old son just had to play with it and it easily held up to anything he could throw at it. The markings are easy to read as well and clearly delineate fractions of an inch.

(What's this)
When I was a kid my grandfather and my mother had this style of ruler. My grandfather used it for his woodworking projects and my mother used it for sewing. I had forgotten about it and I now use measuring tapes for my woodworking projects. But tapes have a complication. They tend to roll over when I lay them on a piece of wood for measuring. I am always trying to hold the tape, the wood and make a mark, all at the same time. So, when I saw this I decided “why not. Let’s give it a try.” I see why my relatives used one all the time. They easily lie flat on the work and do not need to be held with a “third hand.” At first, I was not sure of the accuracy of a tool like this. But when I put a tape measure next to it, the marks lined up exactly. I don’t know how they managed to get the rivets lined up so well, but they did. The ruler is in inches only and has graduations in 16ths of an inch. It is thick and sturdy. It has become my new "go to" ruler.

Lufkin 6 ft. x 5/8 in. Flat Reading Wood Rule Red End Most recognize the Lufkin name as quality and this rule is no exception. I have checked the rule for accuracy and it is spot on when checked with my calipers. I checked the 1/16 inch scale the 1/2 inch scale and the 1 inch scale and each were spot on. This rule is a red end rule with one side marking the 16 inch marks in red for the framers. It is easy to read and does a good job of standing on it own freeing up your hand. Pros: Quality Accurate Two sided with two functions CONS: Missing the 6 inch metal slide rule in older models.

(What's this)
6 Foot Wood Rule. Decent rule, especially if you need to measure something beyond your arms length where a typical tape measure might bend or sag. The pivot points are tight which allows the rule to stay extended even without support. Folded up size is 8"x2"x5/8" and can be stored on a pegboard using the packaging that the rule comes in. 2 x 4 spacing is marked in RED (every 16"). The website description says "marked both sides, both edges". The rule is marked on both sides (same hash marks) but there are no markings on either edge. Package also says "Lies flat on wood" but this only applies to the first section. The remaining sections are off the work piece on one end. Some of the hash mark printing is not crisp.

(What's this)
We use the Lufkin wood rules quite a bit. This one is 6 ft x 5/8 in. My husband feels it gets a more accurate measurement. They lay flat and it doesn't move like a metal tape measure which helps too. Easier to use when doing trim work. He has an older Lufkin x46 which has the extension on it which helps a lot. This one does not have that. This has the numbering starting on the inside of the rule which we don't really like. The one thing we do like is that it's white and brighter so it's easier to see. Parts are made out of the USA and is assembled in Mexico.

Rule is not 100% accurate on one of the sides and the lufkin company is getting cheap/cutting corners by not putting a full end cap on the rulers. It's a dam shame!

This Ruler makes me think of the one my Uncle used when he remodeled our Family Kitchen when I was growing up. He also used it to build a extension on the Back of Our house. I thought it was so cool how you were able to measure small area's. When using a yard stick it made it hard to work in those small area's and a retractable Ruler seemed to be much more bulkier. I like having this ruler for small projects.
