LUMINARC CARINE WHITE SOUP PLATE (SET OF 6) is a nice set of bowls. oops excuse me, soup plates. I'm not going to lie, I will probably never use them for soup, but if I did I'm sure that it would be lovely. I have taken some photos with broccoli. I will definitely use it for that, and chicken wings, casserole, and anything else I might want to put in them.

These soup bowls are really nice. I really like the feel of the Bowl when it is in your Hands. They are nicely rounded and easy to hold onto. They say they are soup Bowls , but, these would be excellent Salad bowls, cereal or Oatmeal Bowls, or even a nice Candy dish. The Bowl is deep and holds roughly 1 3/4 cups of liquid, or close to 14 ounces when full, almost a whole can of the Chunky soups on the market. They are also easy to drink out of the corners to get that last bit of Broth, or milk. They stack very nicely by themselves, or with other designs of bowls. You will not be disappointed in purchasing this Bowl set.

(What's this)
I chose this Carine pattern Luminarc soup plate to prepare my morning hot cereal as my existing Corelle bowls tend to boil over and make a mess in the microwave (1000 watts) in the two-minute cook cycle which for the Corelle is a stop/start routine. I have found that the Carine soup plate is ideal for cooking my cereal since the bowl is shallower and wider offering sufficient free-board to contain the cereal as it boils, foams, and expands within the bowl. Unless I add extra cereal and water, a single serving can cook unattended in two minutes. I have often cooked one and one-half servings with the extra water and a 3 minute cook time and there is no boil over. The other plus is that after cooking, I can grab the opposite rounded corners to transport the bowl to my table. With the Corelle, I have to use a kitchen towel to protect my hands during transport. Now for the differences: I have two sets of Corelle dishware for daily use which stack very neatly and uniformly in the cabinet. The Luminarc Carine soup plates are thinner than the Corelle, and they do not stack neatly- some soup plates appear wider when stacked. The sheen on the Corelle is bright and shiny on the inside surface and on the underside. The sheen on the Luminarc is very shiny on the bowl side but the underside has a matte finish. When I first received the Luminarcs, I hand washed one and found the bowl side to be slippery with the detergent but there's enough traction on the underside to maintain a grip on the soup plate. The Luminarcs have been used daily in the microwave for almost two weeks and have gone through two dishwasher cycles without any issues. For cooking hot cereals, the Carine pattern Luminarc soup plates are working well and are the go-to bowl for this entree.
