Q:Level indicator lights

Answer This Question

A:  Yes, the Maestro dimmers will have a slight glow where the preset is. While the locator light does not change color, the green LED on the side would be much brighter and more prominent if the dimmer was on. The locator light when the dimmer is off is not as bright and really only seen when the room is dark. The locator light also marks the preset of where the lights will come to when the dimmer is turned on. In the newer C.L dimmers (model MACL-153M-WH) for CFLs and LEDs, there is also a feature in advanced programming where you can disable this locator light all together.

Q:Is there anyway I can stop my dimmable LED recessed lights from blinking on and off when the dimmer is turned off?

    Answer This Question

A:  We are sorry to hear about the issues you are having with these LED bulbs. Unfortunately, the MAW-600H-WH is not designed to work with LEDs and when the dimmer is off, there is a very small amount of trickle current that flows through the dimmer (to keep the little green lights on the side of it on). Standard incandescent or halogen bulbs are not affected by this but because LEDs are so sensitive, some may be affected by this and cause it to become unstable while the dimmer is off. Many times, keeping just one incandescent or halogen bulb on the circuit with the LEDs will provide enough resistance to stabilize the rest of the bulbs and keep them off when the dimmer is off. Other than that, Lutron has a line of CL dimmers that are designed to work with a large range of CFL and LED bulbs. The Maestro (model MACL-153MH-WH) has a long list of bulbs that Lutron has tested and found to be compatible. This list can be found on this product page and will give you a good idea of what will be compatible.

A:  For LED or CFL lighting you should use dimmer model MACL-153MH-WH for single switch dimmer or model MACL-153M-RHW-WH for a 3-way circuit.

Doesnt come w/ wall plate and some
Why did I rate this product poor? First off it doesnt come with the wall plate as stated. 2nd and most important, this lowered the high-end brightness of my four (compatible) LED flood lights by at least 10-20%. (Compared to the single pole and other dimmer im using with the same bulbs.) 3rd, there is not enough difference b/w high and low. The only 'cool' thing is when you hit the switch it fades the lights off and the small green indicator led's but this is not worth $30 and loss of brightness. I tried to higher up the brightness range per instructions but there is little difference. The slide dimmer im using on another set work much better and is half the cost. I will return this.

        Finnicky with dimmable LED's
Installed and tested one light, continued to install remaining lights and no longer works unless I unscrew the remaining two lights. If I unscrew them and turn it on with the one fixture hooked up, and then screw in the remaining two bulbs while already on, it works. But not if all 4 bulbs are screwed in while off...... bizzare. These are a total of four (4) - 6 watt (65 watt equivalent) LED Bulbs..... Very disappointing. Now to see if the second one I bought will work with the LED light kits I just bought for the two recessed lights.

        Perfect for Attenuating Bathroom Light
Lots of control on amount of light--whether getting up first thing in the morning or needing bright illumination for cosmetics and hair styling. Very good looking as well!

        Won't last
This looks like a fantastic light switch, with very appealing design & functionality. However, it does not stand up to heavy usage. Currently searching for a replacement.

        Works fine, looks great
Recently upgraded our dining room chandelier. Purchased dimmable LEDs and this dimmer switch. The switch works fine and looks great. It has a nice on-off touch pad and tiny LEDs on the side of the switch to depict intensity.

So easy to use that even my wife likes it . . .
Installed quickly and easily, in part because push in terminals and regular terminal screws are part of the design. Worked instantly with the LED flood lamp (EcoSmart 17 watt BR40 size in ceiling can). Even the default low end brightness setting is just fine. Without any instruction, my usually non-technical wife just walked up and started using the newly installed dimmer without any hesitation or issues. And, she likes it. That's success in my book.

Expensive, Good, but Not Quite There
I love this type of theater lighting where the lights slowly go up and down. I had one of these for incandescent lights, but I wanted to switch to one that would work for LED lighting. This one was a bit over-priced, but it is the first I've seen for use with dimmable LEDs. Installation was easy and it worked the first time, although it moves up and down faster than with the incandescent light version. This may be due to a setting I'm not aware of. Setting the speed should be easy. It is not. I'm waiting for my incandescent bulbs to go before putting in LEDs, so I don't know how well this works with them.
