Product Overview

Coordinating Claro wallplate and accessories sold separately. Lutron now has your solution for controlling two circuits with one sensor. Installing a Maestro in-wall, dual circuit occupancy sensor is a simple, easy, and low cost way to save energy and add light automation to your home. You’ll never worry about accidently leaving the lights on again with the Maestro Sensing Switch because it turns the lights on when you enter the room and then turns them off automatically after you leave. It even works in fan applications. This has an adjustable timeout for each circuit (1, 5, 15 or 30 minutes), so you can control how long the lights stay on after you leave the room. This sensor features XCT Sensing Technology which detects fines motion, such as typing at a desk or reading, ensuring lights do not turn off inadvertently. Equipped with ambient light detection, you can customize your sensor to detect daylight so lights don’t turn on with enough natural light in your room. Maestro Sensors work with any bulb type, including CFLs and LEDs. Keeping the sleek design of the Maestro family, Lutron sensors will match the decor of any room in your home. Excellent for fan/light applications in the bathroom.

Questions & Answers

Can I use this dual circuit motion sensor switch programing it so the sensor controls one of the circuits and the other just be manually operational?

Asked by Ricky March 31, 2021

Yes, the MS-OPS6-DDV is able to have one circuit turn on automatically and the other circuit turn on manually.

I need a dual circuit like this but with a dimmer. Do these have a dimmer or, if not, what do I ...

Asked by Lindy March 25, 2021

Currently, Lutron does not have a dual circuit occupancy sensor that is capable of dimming. There is the MSCL-OP153M, which controls one lighting circuit.

What is range angle?

Asked by Kym September 26, 2020

Thank you for your question, Kym. Please see page 6 of the following document for the expected field of view: https://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/048489.pdf. This sensor may have trouble sensing motion from a 2.5 ft tall toddler up close. However, the further back from the sensor, the lower the view of the sensor will be. Please feel free to reach out to our Support Team with more questions at support@Lutron.com or by phone at 1 (844) 588-7661 for additional assistance.

How would this work in my bedroom with light switch and fan switch. I would like to manually control the fan.

Asked by Fkl August 13, 2020

The MS-OPS6-DDV can have the settings adjusted for either button. You can see how these programming changes are made on the install guide here: https://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/032555.pdf.

Witch is the Best model to control one LED light and one fan 3.6 amp

Asked by Toto November 10, 2019

If you will be controlling a paddle-style ceiling fan, Lutron recommends the MACL-LFQ. You can see which LEDs are compatible with this control by visiting www.lutron.com/ledfinder. If you will be controlling an exhaust fan, Lutron does not currently have a stacked control rated for that type of application. The closest examples would be the MA-L3S25 dimmer/switch or MA-L3T251 dimmer/timer, but these are only rated for use with incandescent/halogen lights.

Have a single light with two separate switches. Will this work or do I need a double pole switch replacement?

Asked by Chad August 10, 2019

The MS-OPS6-DDV can control two separate lighting circuits independently from one another. The circuit connected to the top button will respond automatically by the sensor lens picking up motion. The second circuit, conntected to the bottom button, is set to manual on/auto off by default and will not respond to the sensor lens. You would need to adjust the programming for this. You can view the install guide here to accomplish the setup and programming: http://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/032444.pdf.

Will pets set this off? I want motion detection for when we enter or leave the room, but not sure...

Asked by Tina April 9, 2019

The MS-OPS6-DDV occupancy sensor uses passive infrared technology that picks up the movement of warm bodies to turn a lighting/fan load on. It is possible for the MS-OPS6-DDV to pick up the movement of a pet and inadvertently turn a light/fan on. The motion sensitivity can be adjusted, however, which would require more infrared beams to be broken in order to activate a load. On page 5 of the spec sheet, you can view how the infrared beams will disperse from the control: http://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/369758a.pdf. To make adjustments to the programming, you can view the install guide here: http://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/032444.pdf.

independent settings; will that allow me to chose which switch I want motion setting to turn on and what duration?

Asked by Vic July 2, 2018

Yes, with this device, you will be able to choose if each circuit acts an an occupancy or vacancy sensor, set the timeout individually, and change many other features, please see the following programming guide for more information: http://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/048489.pdf

Can this switch be used for both the light and fan in the bathroom. I would like for both to be turned on with motion.

Asked by Arrowhead May 27, 2018

Yes, this sensor can be used to control both circuits. When mixing a lighting and fan load, this sensor is rated for a maximum of 4.4 amps per circuit. Please see the following spec sheet for more information: http://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/369758a.pdf

Will it detect motion behind a glass shower door?

Asked by DM March 27, 2018

Maestro occupancy sensors use passive infrared technology which essentially send out infrared beams to detect motion in the space. Typically, glass would break up that beam and thus, it would not be able to detect motion through it. If used in a bathroom application, we would typically suggest extending the timeout to ensure that the lights don't accidentally turn off while you are still in the room.

Great product
They work exactly how I wanted them to. I set them up in my kids rooms so when they walk in, they need to manually on the lights, but when they forget to switch the lights off, they will automatically switch of after 5 mins of detecting no motion(vacancy mode). Saves me from having to remind them to switch the lights off.

Good switch with all the bells and whistles.
Great switch... Can be set for occupancy AND OR vacancy sensor for one or the other or both switches. Super versatile. I had a single switch for fan and light now when someone uses the powder room the light turns on automatically and off automatically when the motion timer runs out with no motion. My preference for the fan was 5 min auto off so someone can hit it and not worry about shutting off after. The click it made when it turned on at first I thought was too loud but the more it gets used that has quieted down or I hardly notice. It's nice to have auto lights in the bathrooms for obvious reasons. I thought it was a bit pricey but there is alot of good functionality so I don't regret it. If you have two circust in one box you want to split to more switches and have motion and timers and not worry about flipped switches this is a good purchase.

Works great! Switch shuts off light and fan in bathroom automatically after 10 and 15 minutes after it senses nobody in the room. It’s a bit expensive but saves me from loosing my mind and yelling at the kids.

It's good that it has a low sensitivity setting for small rooms. It was "seeing" the hall from IR reflected in the window. The instructions are missing a troubleshooting entry where if the AC hot and neutral are connected backwards the switch will not function, it get's power from hot + gnd.
