I have used both products. Floetrol is thicker and is seems to be based more on the idea of producing a creamy spread. M-1 is more like a watery compound that tends to dilute the paint, but has a spread quality a little slicker than adding water. I wasn't very impressed with the Floetrol, and was also concerned about its tendency to produce caking and possibly some yellowing in the paint over time after the paint has been applied.
