I use flotro know is this equivalent to that

I have used both products. Floetrol is thicker and is seems to be based more on the idea of producing a creamy spread. M-1 is more like a watery compound that tends to dilute the paint, but has a spread quality a little slicker than adding water. I wasn't very impressed with the Floetrol, and was also concerned about its tendency to produce caking and possibly some yellowing in the paint over time after the paint has been applied.

Used a little less than they said to thin out. It said that product doesn’t affect if it’s semi or gloss paint. Not true! Paint came out looking like satin paint, not the gloss I used with it

M-1 was the answer! I moved 5 years ago from a very humid state, to a high desert state. I have been struggling since then with painting quickly enough to prevent lap marks, brush strokes, or flashing--and I have done a lot of DIY painting in my time. Regardless of brand, or paint cost--I was racing to keep up with the dry times. Finally I did some googling and learned about adding this additive to extend the open time of the paint--made a huge difference in my project using Behr Ultra Scuff Defense Durable Flat. I love the finish--so soft and smooth--also I'm finally not seeing those paint marks when the light crosses long walls. Awesome! In case anyone is curious--I used Behr Ultra with a color match to SW 7568 Neutral Ground--. The color match is perfect, and I prefer the finish of the Behr Ultra Durable Flat over SW Duration Matte. I used about 3 oz. M-1 per gallon, and may try 4oz next time.

Would I recommend this product? YES and NO. M-1 does a great job of making the paint stay unsolidified[?] while I worked with it, making paint strokes more uniform and even, which it is advertised to do. However, it diminished the coverage quality of the paint, so that the white paint color failed to cover as well as the untreated paint had done, and I used the low end of the recommended amount of M-1 per gallon. I'm wondering whether adding less would provide the color coverage while still allowing extended painting time. I would add no more than half the lowest recommended amount per gallon on the next application.

After I painted windowsills using latex paint with this product, the new paint job still had streaks. I tried various proportions of the M1 product: The average amount that they recommended, the maximum amount that they recommended, and twice the average amount that they recommended. Then, I added a little water. All four of these combinations still had streaks
