is this paintable? If I use it to fill a crack between the ceiling

I believe it will take paint. I usually caulk over the top of it when I install it. If there is a pinch of it sticking out of the crack or corner you might want to take a razor blade and trim off the parts that are pooched out. A thin layer of calk will insure that the foam is sealed and it will tend to hide the texture of the foam.

Answer

Thank you for the question. Bondo will not cause a chemical reaction with this backer rod. Since it is more of a putty and has a higher viscosity, it is better to use a standard caulk with backer rod. It won't need to be pushed around as much into the harder to reach spots.

I am not using this product for its intended use. I am a quilter and cut it up to replace the very costly Pinmoors used in quilt layering.

Did the job well with this product. Large gap was filled enough to allow traditional caulking to then be used to finish the job.

Worked great on the area between the Brick and Wood panels on my porch. After removing old failed caulk there were large gaps. These stayed in place beautifully for the new caulk. I bought 2 bags and had to set one aside, the kitten played with the material and left teeth marks. Material has to be leak free.

This stuff is great as a foundation for sealing caulking filler leaks and providing natural expansion contraction underneath the hot Arizona sunshine. Using in combination with Concrete Crack Filler Caulking from Sika. Used it on my driveway slabs which are separating.
