The aluminum is 1/4" wider than my door and old gasket. I was able to use it and have the extra 1/4" on the outside of the garage door. With the 1/4" difference, mounting the aluminum was difficult because the type of screws you enclosed. The 1/4" made the aluminum not centered on the bottom of the door. The hex type screws made it very difficult to hit the middle of the bottom of the door to tighten with a ratchet socket set. Off center the screws were not long enough. I recommend you use a Phillips screws or flat head metal screws to make installation easier. Had to make the inside flush so it would fit the slides I laid the rubber gasket in the sun so I was able to slide it on one end and then pull to the other end. Seems to be working okay.
