Yes. You will just have to have the the pulleys screwed into your Wood Rafters and be a little farther away from the wall.

How can you lock the bike once it’s hanging

It locks like a window shade blind latch that keeps the blinds from coming down until you manipulate the cord into position with tension. It has a latch that keeps the cord from lowering the bike unless you position the cord for release

The product is attached to the ceiling (my husband put it on a 2x4 then attached the 2x4 to the ceiling to hit studs). We have 9' ceilings out there, so the bike hangs down to about 5'.

how long is the rope?

Asked by JR December 27, 2015

Longer than you'll ever need. We have 9' ceilings and there's at least 8-10' of rope left over after the bike is on the floor.

What size/type rope should be used?

The rope is provided and there's plenty of it.

Could a child use this to raise and lower their bike?

It really depends on how heavy the bike is. Ours is a old fashioned three speed full size bike and is heavy and I found it a little difficult to raise.

The bicycle hanger lift worked perfectly. I hung 3 bicycles in about an hour. I hardest part was laying out the measurements/dimensions on the ceiling and then locating a stud to drill into. Otherwise they work good and cleared out some space in my garage! I would recommend!

Worked really well.
We bought two of these bike hangers to use in our outdoor storage building. They were easy to install and worked really well. We attached the pulleys to a piece of board. attached the board to the roof rafters, threaded the cord through the pulleys, and hoisted up the bikes. The nice thing is that we have storage area below the bikes.

Easy to install. Easy to lift bikes by myself (I'm a 115 lb woman). Chose to hang two bikes over the hood of my parked car since anywhere else in the car would have limited usable space below, since they do hang low. I have a 10 ft high ceiling, and the bikes JUST clear my head (I'm 5'4").

Very cheaply made. No where near the quality of my old one. Hooks weren’t bent enough, I had to hammer them in shape in my vise. Plastic covers slid off the hooks. Cord very thin, not hefty like my old one, poor gauge metal and too much play in the pulleys. I’ve had it 10 days and am on my way to pick up a new one at REI. THIS IS FIRST CLASS JUNK...SHAMEFUL LACK OF QUALITY.

Ordered 2 each of 2 products. Both similar, but these had a wider base to mount on a 1x4 to mount to the ceiling. Kept these, and are what I expected.

A little tricky in getting the pulleys to work in sync. But it holds. I had my two mountain bikes hanging in my garage in Anchorage, Alaska during the 7.1 earthquake. They moved like a swing. But didn't come off the hooks.
