Asked by: Ronski
Yes, if the vent was supporting a water heater of similar or higher BTU you should be able to use the same vent pipe as long as you install it properly and within code guidelines.

Is it a power vent ? dose the vent piping come with it
Asked by: Jim
passive vent, no vent pipes provided, Stainless steel z-rated pipes are recommended - those will cost more than the heater.

Not Energy Star Compliant 3. No AC needed 4. Indoor use only 5. No automated controls 6. Not power vented With the above said, my licensed plumber friend installed the unit for me, buying all of the needed hoses, adapters, and other necessary hardware, and testing all connections. Expect it to cost more than the install cost of another tank-type water heater, as the plumber will have to make changes to your present piping. If you are replacing a tank-type water heater, the space previously occupied by your old water heater should be enough, with proper venting, to mount the tankless unit and have enough combustion air to operate it. As the unit is not power vented, and has no automated controls, 2 "D" batteries are enough to enable the gas solenoid and fire the piezoelectric igniter. The front panel of the unit has 3 controls; a winter/summer switch (winter water is usually colder than summer water, and needs a "boost"), a water flow control, and a flame intensity control. This unit also features a backlit LCD output temperature display, on the front of the unit The manual is long on installation instructions, but short on explanation of how to adjust the "beast". Tank-type water heaters have a simple "set-and-forget" thermostat, which simply keeps a big tank of water at a preset temperature. On-demand water heaters must deal with changing input water temperatures and water flow rates, since it is heating water "on-the-fly".. You can think of the tank on a tank-type water as a "buffer" which modulates changes in temperature. With an on-demand unit, you modulate temperature by varying water flow after your initial setup. The lower the flow (after the activation threshold has been exceeded and the unit turns on), the HOTTER the water will get. This means that turning on your shower, which usually features a low-flow shower head, will actually make the temperature RISE while you are showering. Adding cold water to cool things off can ALSO make the temperature of your shower RISE, as it further constricts the hot water flow. These heaters all have an "efficiency factor".. the number for this heater is .82, not enough to qualify for Energy Star status - NO tax credit if you buy this unit. However, I think that the low purchase price more than makes up for the lack of Energy Star rating. The answer here is to choose the right unit for your home, start with relatively low settings, and get a feel for the correct settings of your spigots. Of all of the various sinks, washing machine, dishwasher, etc., I think the shower is most crucial, as it is the one that can turn you into a Lobster if you let it get too hot. I was going to buy a 16-liter/minute heater. They were sold out everywhere - now I'm glad I didn't. My wife and are the only occupants of a 1-bathroom home. We don't usually use more than one sink, shower, or washer at a time. I chose the 10L Marey tankless unit for the combination of low price versus a replacement 30-gallon tank-type heater (which would have cost twice as much to purchase), and savings in fuel consumed over time It didn't hurt that most of the tankless competition cost 3 to 4 times as much. Why so cheap? See # 1. above. (I didn't know this at the time, and only found out after the unit was installed, as NONE of the included literature alluded to the country of origin.) I found the best initial setup to be with the summer/winter switch to winter (It's January), the water flow control to MINIMUM, and the gas flame intensity control to about 25%. I get water at about 125 degrees with the minimum flow necessary to activate the heating flame while showering with a bit of cold water. The water at the sinks can get a bit hotter. You will have to experiment a bit, especially in the shower. Conclusions? 1. It works 2. This 10 Liter/minute unit is more than enough for a 1-bathroom home 3. It will get HOT if you set it that way - can produce up to 160-degree water I have only had the unit for about a week. I will update this review if possible as time goes by

This is by far the worst manufacture I have ever come into contact with, for starters no one has a clue about this company and for second the Water Heater doesn't get below 115 degrees while running just one faucet. Wether it be shower, bathroom faucet or our kitchen faucet it will not dip below 115 degrees. I recently had our home looked over by a plumber and they stated that everything was good to go from inlet pressure and gas. You ask if I have contacted the company, I have contacted them on several occasions and received a response the first time within a couple of days that directed me to some how to videos to adjust an internal valve and to adjust the obvious knobs. Which I had already looked for online and it did not help my situation. I contacted them again about the first issue and stated that the videos did not help with my situation, I then waited a week before responding a third time to the first email stating that I was going to return the unit to my local Home Depot, unfortunately we had waited too long since we purchased the unit (90+ days) and could not return the unit for a refund or an exchange without the manufactures consent. At this time I received an email back from the manufacture and a quick call, they asked if everything was alright with our unit and I stated everything is fine and that we would be purchasing a different band of unit and replacing the unit that we had previously purchased. They seemed unfazed by the statement and that was the end of our conversation over the phone. If asked about this product I will be upfront and state my dealings with this manufacture. I will not do business with a manufacture that does not stand behind their product and that doesn't do everything in their power to make it right when a problem occurs.

I've never had a tankless water heater before but it's amazing how it works. I installed it myself and only issue was that I had to buy multiple parts to get it just right. I had to convert from 3/4" to 1/2" on both the water connections and gas. Also, only negative part was the gas inlet on the marey was not a flared connection (which all gas lines are flared) and had to look for the right adaptor to make it work. Luckily, Home Depot had all the parts available. My house is big so one of these was not enough in a household of 5, but that's after 2 showers and the wife washing the dishes. The best part about installing this is that I didn't have to lift a traditional water heater up to the attic.

At first could not get it to work and the instructions suck. NOTE that it doesn't turn on if there is insufficient flow! Replaced shower head and fiddled with the (somewhat cryptically labeled) knobs to get the thing working. Now that it's working, it gives hot water quickly and quietly so it seems like a good heater (so far!)

Some plumbers will not touch anything that they did not install, nor have a found a Pro who will come and "certify" an installation. Tell them it is a tankless.. and they run.
