Can anyone go on youtube ti see how to crack the code or can it be crack as far as the cide

Asked by: Charlie
A locksmith can get into this safe in 2-hrs. Anybody else would have to train for months or years before they had enough skills to crack this combination lock. At that point, hopefully they'd find work that's more lucrative and less risky than trying to break into my place to put their newfound skills to work. But...you bring up a valid point. Security comes in layers. Try to have a couple of deterrents (reinforced strikeplates, grade 1 locks, door barricades) and maybe an alarm system to protect your home. This safe is a last line of defense, not the primary. If somebody has time and tools, they'll be in rather quickly. You need to make it difficult for a criminal to ever get in, and then make it hard for them to create a situation where they could either bring tools or use tools that already exist in your home. There is not one, quick & easy solution to security. It complex, multi-layered, and requires good security habits every day. Amazing how many people with alarm systems installed don't enable them when they go out for Christmas dinner, because, who's thinking about being robbed on Christmas? The answer is: it should be a habit to arm the alarm before leaving, all the time, even when you're in a rush or it's Christmas morning. A long-winded way of saying: this safe should be secure enough for a typical person's home.

Customer Reviews

1.7 cu. ft. Fire Resistant Combination Lock Burglary and Fire Safe is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Adiquate, Better than in store Plastic. Product was as described, good kick weight, fair to midway construction. Exterior finish is good. After slight disassembly to change combination. (not recommended I have locksmith capability) Fire brick materiel was poorly sealed to interior of door. Fit of door was atrocious, with at least one quarter inch of play .(remedied with 3/8 inch sealing tape). Solid Three bolt locking, but with very ,and I do mean very poor welding on critical interior components, welding was obviously done by spot arc rod, which is questionable in a modern world of MIG and or TIG welding practices. I chose this safe because of it's traditional dial combination feature, which works very well (before and after changing combination). I cracked a five finger gun safe at Menards in three tries (pathetic). Would recommend because of the traditional dial feature (much harder to crack).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid safe for the money This is a good solid safe with three solid metal bolts that extend on both sides of the door into the steel sides (not plastic holes like some safes.) The combination dial is sturdier than many others and makes more sense than electronic versions that are more likely to fail. The packaging seems to have been improved from what I've read earlier as it came without damage from UPS. The only issue that I have is that the holes in the base that allows you to bolt the safe into the floor are not quite wide enough for a socket wrench to cover the bolt head, so I had to tighten without a wrench. It is heavy enough to be annoying to carry away and with the bolt being sunk into concrete to hand tightened strength, it is very unlikely to be taken out. The adjustable shelf is nice to separate items within the safe.

The combination dial was broken and it was obvious it went through their quality control this way. MESA did not respond to my emails to rectify the problem. I returned the safe after 2 weeks of ownership. There are other reviews that show this safe FAILED its fire-resistant effectiveness. Key word being "fire-resistant" This safe is not fireproof like the SentrySafe models. It is NOT UL rated for fire protection. It is factory tested, meaning they gave it their own fire proof rating. There was ZERO fire proof material in the door, which has me questioning if there was any in the rest of the safe. I did a YouTube review you can search for if you wish. There are better options out there.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid safe Very good safe. Chose this for the manual combination lock, the positive reviews, and the cost. The safe seems very sturdy. Good construction. The combination lock process is exactly that, a process which is good and bad. It takes time, patients, and precision opening the safe. The dial itself seems durable but doesnt seat all the way into the housing. I don't know if this is the way it's supposed to be or if it's a slight defect in assembly. However, despite this detail, it sees to function properly. I don't have another dial safe to compare it to so I'm hoping that it continues to function as necessary. I recommend practicing the locking and unlocking procedure a few times before locking up any valuables and then practice opening once a month. I bolted mine to the floor to make it very difficult to walk off with this 145lb bad boy. That is if they can even locate it. I have an electronic gun safe which is (another brand) equally reliable and durable. I would give a 5 star but the dial is in question. I would buy this safe again but maybe would consider an electronic keypad.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mesa safe The safe arrived on the day promised. No shipping damage noticeable. It looked just like what was portrayed online. Size is perfect for family valuables. Only issue I would mention is that it took a little practice to get the door open. Once I figured it out, it was easy.

So far is very reliable and easy to operate. Only issue we have found is release location of the dial position at the last turn of the combination knob can be a little difficult to find. Sometimes a two to three attempt id need to get the door lever to release. We've had the safe for two months and would give it good to excellent ratting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a safe safe Safe is overall ok but it doesn't feel like $400 well spent First, as you open the box you immediately see that the safe is made to resist fire ok but definitely not burglary due to fairly thin metal being used for the top and sides of the safe. The lock dial has play of almost 1/2 an inch side to side and the paint on the door arrived chipped. This safe was visibly installed before (scratches on the bottom of the safe where it was bolted on) which I guess would be "ok" if not for the fact that the lock mechanism didn't work when it arrived. I had to fix it myself (once you carry it home you won't want to bring it back to the store) and now the safe works fine

I received the safe with a non-operable combination lock, and therefore the safe was completely useless and was returned to Home Depot. On the positive side, the store did not hassle me on the return even though I returned the safe without the manufacture's packaging (the packaging was a mess, so I cut it up as I unpacked the safe and put it in the trash, only to discover afterwards that the lock did not work).
