I bought two of these 3/4” valves and soldered them in place, to be able to shut off the water on my second floor bathroom while remodeling. I cleaned both the valve sockets and pipe ends and applied flux on both surfaces. I wrapped the body in a wet strip of towel and proceeded to apply heat (~270 deg. around, holding the flame 45 deg. away from the core). The solder did not bond right away, but eventually it did. I gave it two stars, because one of the valves (cold water side) does not shut properly. It leaks about two cups a day.
