How much space is between the two bars. I would like to use this for a blanket rack (not a big blanket, but two large lap blankets that are sherpa (thicker fleece).
Asked by: Kathleen
Probably not suitable for blankets. The space is actually kind of tight for larger bath towels. Also, the metal is so thin and ill fitting, that I think a blanket would be too heavy for this product.

Are the rods detachable from the brackets so they can be cut to length?
Asked by: 64chevy
Yes, but they are probably too flimsy to withstand the cutting.

Do the bars spin (or roll) when you pull a towel off? Or make any sort of noise?

Asked by: LORI
Yes, they spin and make a squeaking noise. Mine ultimately became so loose that the lower bar kept falling off.

Is this item available in chrome?

Asked by: Clark
Brushed nickel is similar to chrome just slightly dull and more durable and resistant to scratches. Look at unit on floor .

Looks just like the picture and functions as expected. The issue I have is that the longer of the two bars is not long enough and can slip off the mount under weight. I'd suggest placing the mounting holes 1/4" shorter than the template and cutting the shorter bar (which is a tight fit to begin with and now tighter if you shortened the dimensions) so it will fit. The longer towel bar will then fit correctly and you would have slightly shorter tower bars that stay in place.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it, but... After reading the other reviews, I was hesitant about using this product because of the comments about it pulling out from the wall. I have three small children who are not very gentle when grabbing their towels! I installed with the included hardware and immediately it began to pull away from the wall and wobble. The problem is not with the mounting bracket, but rather with the plastic anchors that are supposed to hold the screws into the wall. I replaced the anchors with metal ones, and now it is solidly mounted! It is frustrating that it doesn't work well with the included parts, but I am happy with the look. One other slightly annoying point to note: the bars are rather close to each other and close to the wall. This makes it a little more tricky to remove or add just one towel at a time. But in my small bathroom, I think it is the best option.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great towel bar but don't use the supplied anchors We love these towel bars (installed two in our bathroom remodel) and they went in really easy and look great. Unfortunately after about a year of use the wing style nylon anchors that were supplied with the bars began to loosen. We don't have children tugging at the towels so this was a mystery until I decided to remove one of the bars and see what the issue was. It turns out that the wings on the anchors had either broken away completely from the body or had partially broken away as they appeared to have become weakened or brittle. I had to pull them out and replace them with the oversize tapered plastic screw in heavy duty style anchors available at most hardware stores. Moen should rethink the use of these anchors in lieu of more heavy duty ones. It could be that because these are dual towel rods there is a greater moment created since the outer bar is further away from the wall.

I was surprised it works well to hold both my wife and I's towels and bath robes. Also the towels actually do dry. I was afraid they would not dry well and I would need a second towel rack, but no issues so far.

I've installed about a dozen towel bars, both single and double, in my life. It can be a kind of fiddly project but I know how to install towel bars. I bought 2 Moen towel bars. The first one I installed was fine for a few months and then loosened up so that the lower towel bar kept falling out. After some serious skunk works adapting (ie, taking the towel bar apart and gluing a slice of a wine cork in the post receptacle to tighten up the clearance) it was usable. Not a great experience but better than taking it down and starting over with a new towel bar. The second towel bar, however, was just a disaster. The plastic toggle anchors are plastic and too flexible so they can work their way out of the wall. The plastic pin that was provided for the anchor installation was too flimsy and broke after the first light tap. So I found my own sturdier device. The anchors pulled out of the wall before I even finished attaching the mounting plate. I was left with 2 gaping holes in my guest bathroom wall. So, rather than return this piece of junk to the Home Depot that's 35 miles away, I went to my local hardware store, not Home Depot, and bought 2 metal anchors. But before I finished installing the posts, I noticed that the parts of one post were not seated together well, it was wiggly. When I checked the screw inside that was presumably to hold the pieces together, I saw that it broken. No wonder it wasn't a snug fit. So here I sit after 3 hours of frustration with a truly inferior and unusable product, 2 large holes in my guest bathroom wall, and guests arriving tomorrow. I've made 2 phone calls to Moen customer service. Both times I was told I would be called back in 30 and 35 minutes. Two + hours later, no call, just a voice mail saying press "3" but "3" doesn't connect to anything. I used to think Moen was a decent brand. No more. Will never put myself through this substandard product experience again. Hope you don't either
