Moen does manufacture the Moen DN9830SN (Satin Nickel), 30” bar only that is compatible with the Moen Brantford 24 in. Towel Bar in Brushed Nickel mounting post. A: Yes, it can be trimmed. I used a hack saw and a file to smooth the rough edge.

A: Yes - see no reason why the bar cannot be shortened since the bar just fits in the holes on the bracket - use a fine tooth saw blade.

Mounting System Not An Improvement

The mounting system for these types of towel bars and rings has typically used a small metal set screw to hold the posts onto a metal plate which is affixed to the wall. Moen has changed the method to attach the posts on these bars/rings to plastic, with tiny plastic tabs which "lock" the posts onto the wall plates. Lock is a good descriptino because once the posts are affixed to the wall, you'll never get them off, at least without breaking the flimsy plastic tabs. As there's no other way to attach the posts to the wall, the bars/rings are rendered useless. Perhaps that was the intent: you have to buy all new any time you paint or change location.

Hello Rehoguy and thank you for the feedback you posted on the Moen website. We are sorry for the difficulty you experienced removing the Moen Brantford Chrome 24" Towel Bar. The Moen Brantford Chrome 24" Towel Bar uses the Moen Pro-Fit™ installation system. To remove the decorative part from the mounting post, on the side of the decorative post there is a square opening. Slide and press a small, flat bladed screw driver up into the opening; with your other hand you should be able to “rock/wiggle” the decorative part loose/away from the mounting hardware.
