The finish is an even, bright chrome that seems to be high quality with no pits or flaws. The look is modern or at least transitional. This is the final piece I installed to update a powder room, which includes the Genta 8 inch spread faucet, 18 inch towel bar and pivoting paper holder. Because of the design of the mounting pieces and end supports you must take a bit more care than usual to install the mounting posts level and very accurately apart from each other. If you do that and mount the end brackets correctly over the posts you will have a good final appearance with the cross bar fitting tightly between the end posts. This is more of a mini-towel bar than a towel ring but the advantage is that you don't have that ring banging against the wall and a typical hand towel folded in thirds will fit nicely between the posts without a bunch of wrinkles or pleats. (See picture.) BTW, I always check for wall studs and try to mount one mounting post into a stud whenever possible to create a stronger installation. That's not always possible. In new construction or major remodels you should ask your contractor to add a 2 x 6, 2 x 8 or 2 x 10 scrap between the studs where you will want this mounted. Then your installation will never become loose.

This towel rail was a perfect design match for our new Kohler ‘Composed’ bathroom faucet. We recently updated our bathroom faucet to a more modern looking design and we selected this towel rail as its design is quite similar to the new faucet in polished chrome. Once we received the product we were thrilled that the match couldn’t have been better! It is a perfect accent to our bathroom remodel and we’ll be adding the toilet roll holder next now we know the design match is so good. Installing the towel rail is very simple. The package includes all the fixtures you need to attach it to a stud or into a hollow sheetrock wall. In our case we were replacing a 24” towel rail so we had the studs available. The instructions include a wall template and we simply cut this off, stuck it on the wall with some small pieces of tape and made sure it was level using a bubble level with the included horizontal level lines that are printed on the template. We then drilled the holes where they are marked and it fit perfectly. Once the holes are drilled, the wall brackets can be attached. This requires a power screwdriver or a Phillips screwdriver. After the wall mounts are secured, the end caps slip over them and are secured by tightening a small hex head screw using the included Allen wrench. I found that there was a small gap between the towel bar rail and the end caps initially so I slackened off the hex screws and simply pushed the end caps inwards before retightening them and got a nice tight finish.

(Long review with details about installation) I have probably installed about a hundred bathroom accessories just in the last 7 or 8 years working with a builder friend. While the process is similar for all of them, there are a few specifics that change from time to time. The Genta line requires great attention to alignment detail to have a good-looking final installation because the end pieces have an extension of that horizontal flat bar. That's not a negative. It's just a cautionary comment. Since the crossbar of each accessory is flat and not round it requires careful orientation of the end pieces that hold it. And the distance between mounts must be precise as well or there will be unsightly gaps between the crossbar and end pieces. That said, the quality of the pieces including the finish is quite good. I am adding these accessories to my previous installation of an 8 inch spread Genta Faucet to udpate our powder room. The look is nice and up-to-date without being too "modern". The towel bar comes with all screws and wall anchors and a hex wrench needed for installation as well as a template that has markings for ALL the bath accessories including both size towel bars. Make sure you tape it in place level and stretched tight and drill with a small pilot drill to hit dead center on the marks on the template. I was fortunate to hit the wood on both ends since there is a thick frame for a pocket door inside the wall where this is placed. That brings up another point not mentioned in the instructions. I think there should be a caution about the possible existence of pipes in the area where you will be installing screws. While most piping except large diameter drain pipe should not be within reach of the screws there is no guarantee that this is the case. So use a stud finder before drilling because some even show plumbing and electrical behind drywall, drill slowly and, if at all possible, locate one end on a stud for extra support as well as assurance you aren't drilling into a pipe or wiring for that matter. The mounting piece screw holes are oversized just enough to get a bit of realignment if you happen to be off just a hair when you drill but you have no more than 1/16th of an inch of room for error or 1 degree of misalignment of the end pieces before you encounter problems. I am going to length to mention these cautions during installation so no one blames the product when the lack of accuracy creates problems or a poor finished look. If you are selecting these for new construction or major renovation have your contractor install blocking between the studs where the accessories will be located. It's easier to get a strong, accurate installation that way. There are always scraps of 2x4 or 2x6 or larger to place between studs. Back to this product, chrome will always be in style as far as I am concerned and it is a very durable finish. It wipes clean of fingerprints and watermarks easily and that's true of this towel bar. It makes for a nice sturdy installation with a crossbar that doesn't squeak from rotating because...it doesn't rotate. The price seems reasonable for the quality and heft of the metal. An inexpensive update to a bath or powder room looking a bit dated. See my comments on the paper holder as well.
