Questions & Answers

Does the base pot have drainage holes to keep water from pooling?

Asked by: sk
The bottom pot only has the side "port" for the hose, and no other holes specifically for drainage. This side hole can be used to drain any excess water. I find that the water from the top flower pot area only drains if it's really over-watered. I prefer having these drainage holes in the flower pot, because the roots of my plants don't rot.

How many inches deep is the inner planter part?

Asked by: Jeff
I have already returned the pot but from what I remember maybe 3 to 4 inches deep.

Does this hose pot have a cone in the middle to wrap the hose around? Is it fairly easy to rewind each time it is used?

Asked by: gardenlady
This hose pot does not have an interior cone. I have a fairly rigid, heavy duty, hose so I do not have a problem when I wrap the hose back into the container. It can easily hold a 100 foot hose.

how long and what diameter hose will fit in this hose pot?

Asked by: mrsz
We have a 100 foot hose in ours and there is still room for more. The diameter of the hole is 2 inches.

It is exactly what I searched for to hide the hose right next to my front door. Other products I researched have the hose still visible, and I wanted for flowers to disguise the hose storage. I don't mind that the pot is made from plastic and not from clay / stone, because it would probably get too heavy given its fairly large size. The appearance is very classy, and it's not immediately obvious that the pot isn't actually stone. I'm uploading some photographs right next to my other clay pots, and they match quite nicely. The top flower pot tray is fairly shallow, so it doesn't accommodate deep-rooted flowers, but I found that a nice carpet of annuals / flats works really well. I compliment with spikes and hanging leaves to distract from the large size. It's easy to remove the tray, because it has side handles. The top tray does have drainage holes, and other reviewers didn't like that. I found that the only with over-watering did I get much drainage into the lower compartment. I actually am quite happy that the drainage holes are these, as I find that flower pots without holes cause root rot (in fact I've actually drilled holes into pots without them in the past). I usually have a 100 foot hose in the pot, and there is room to spare (see photograph). I have occasionally also kept an additional 50 feet of hose in it - it got tight but the lid still closed (although I did have to be neater about coiling the hose with the added length to ensure it all fits). This was my second season with the pot, and it still looks like new. I didn't love the high price upon purchase, but the curb appear has been worth it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Only the unexpected holes in the lid keep this from being perfect. I was surprised to find holes already drilled in the lid. Most similar products have a lid for the purpose of keeping water out of the pot. Othewise a really nice pot and comparably priced with others I have seen on line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Hose Bowl Product was just what I was looking for. Looks and feels like aged stone, but is lighter weight.altho heavy enough to stay put when you are coiling the hose. Came on time and packaged very well, in perfect condition. It is big enough to hold a very long hose, with room to spare.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from VERY DISAPOINTED VERY DELICATE LIGHT CAST MATERIAL. IT ARRIVED DAMAGED FROM SHIPPING. PACKING WAS ADEQUATE AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH TO PROTECT THE POT BUT THIS CASTING IS SO FRAGILE THAT IS EXPECTED TO BE BROKEN AS IT WAS. AFTER SEEN IN IT IN FRONT OF ME, i CAN'T JUSTIFY THE HIGH PRICE OF $138.00 FOR A CAST POT. ALSO, THE LID HAS TOO MAY BIG HOLES FOR DRAINAGE IN FACT THE SOIL WILL DRAIN RIGHT DOWN ON TOP OF YOU GUESS WHAT... THE HOSE. VERY SHALLOW LID FOR PLANTING BUT ONLY VERY SMALL PLANTS OR VINES. I CAN NOT IN GOOD CONSCIOUS RECOMMEND THIS HOSE POT.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice but too large This hose pot was very nice but it was too large for the area I wanted to put it, plus the holes in the top would allow water to drain into the pot. Using the top as a planter would allow water and dirt to seep into the pot thus making a mess inside. Unfortunately I had to returned this item.
