Yes if you are handy and the coolant is in the outside condenser unit. the lines are capped but can be cut to length if need be.
I would say yes. the inside unit is plastic and would assume a good paint would do the trick. there is a lit area showing temp that you may or may not want to cover

at 47 degrees it is at 100% at 17 degrees it is working at 15400 BTUS
It should be a 20 degree temperature difference.
