Questions & Answers

I love the product but after installing I do not like the look of the black lines within the Harmony Fog. Can it be painted ?
ByJul 24, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

We do not recommend painting or covering the black lines (acoustic felt) on the MSI Harmony Fog Acoustic Wood Slat Panel. Altering the felt may impact the panel’s acoustic performance. We recommend reviewing the product appearance before installation, as natural wood characteristics and design details may vary. Thank you for your understanding!

Does this keep sound out or in?
    ByMar 15, 2026

    Answer This Question

These panels are designed to absorb sound within a room, reducing echo and reverberation, but they do not block sound from passing through walls. They improve internal acoustics but are not effective for soundproofing between spaces. Good luck with your project!

Can you cut these with a saw.
      ByMar 13, 2026

      Answer This Question

Yes, the panels can be cut. Trim the felt backing first with a utility knife, then cut the wood slats with a handsaw or circular saw, keeping the finished surface protected for a clean, precise cut. Good luck with your project!

        Accent your walls
Not your ordinary paneling. You can do so much with this noise-canceling paneling! I found it rather easy to work with, and you can create a few different styles with it; it is easy to cut. I discovered that my small circular saw was effective, and I plan to add a border at the top for a neater finish. My thoughts are to maybe just go up the entire wall honestly.

Stylish Sound Absorber Panels Suitable for you Baffling Needs
The sound absorber panels are stylish and look to be well manufactured and uniform across the panels. I used these as baffles behind my dipole speakers. Each panel includes 8 black mounting screws that blend well with the fabric the slats are mounted to. The included mounting instructions detail how to cut the 2' x 4' panels if needed. I followed them and cut the fabric back with a utility knife, and then turned them over and made my wood cuts with my jigsaw. I used wall anchors that I already had to mount the required panels to my drywall in my listening room. Very happy with the results.

        Trendy trend saves ruined wall!
These panels are very nice looking and actually do muffle sound. They are incredibly easy to install. They have a good weight to them as the material behind the wood is actual thick padding. Each panel comes with black screws that cut easily through the black padding to fasten the panels to drywall or other material. I used my panels to cover a dining room wall that I had regrettably put vinyl planking on a few years ago which now can only be repaired by re-drywalling. This was cheaper than hiring a contractor and no mess to install them. I have to mention though, that the edges of the wood slats are fragile and scrape easily. They are wood but not hardwood. I have some tweaking of the panels (easy to remove and re-install) to do a long with some painting, but I am SOOO pleased with the way the room is looking now with these panels!

        Wow! LOVE this!
I have my own home recording studio. After a fire gutted our home two+ years ago, we had to rebuild from scratch. The new studio is going to have a polished look and phenomenal acoustics. The panels arrived stacked neatly on a pallet. They were well protected and easy to unpack. Once positioned, they covered a very large area. Originally, I was going to checker board them, but I had so many I just finished out the walk where most of my unwanted reverberations would come from. The sound absorption/deflection qualities are superb. Between the soft backing, natural wood, and gaps - the combination produces a warm reflection without annoying overtones. The panels are mounted with a very simple and straightforward screw and grommet that virtually disappears into the gap when fastened. I would recommend this for any professional music production space, or just to ‘calm’ a harsh space.

        Awesome Acustic Insulation Panels
Since about a year ago, I had been considering getting wood slat panels to add an accent wall and sound insulation to my entertainment area. When I received them, I immediately placed one panel against the wall to see how it looked. I have to say it looked amazing right away! These panels made the job really easy to do. They are easy to cut to the specific size and design needed. The overlapping felted base makes the installation look clean and uniform, without gaps between each panel. They also come with the fixture screws required for mounting. I cut the panels using a jigsaw with a fine-finish blade instead of a circular saw (as suggested in the installation instructions), and it worked perfectly without chipping the slats. I also had to curve a few panels to follow a cornered wall. In order to do that, consider using a utility blade to cut halfway through the thickness of the felt backing. The sound insulation is really good. Without the panels, I used to hear the TV sound clearly in the room above, as if the sound were being transmitted directly through the wall. After installing the panels, I can barely hear it. In summary, these acoustic installation panels work great, look great, and are easy to install.

Super Quick Install for 8' ceilings
This board is super simple to install on to open 8'ceiling walls. Maybe an hour install for a 14' wall with a couple plugs on it. I will say it was semi difficult to install on an angle. after the first cut, I realized that I would need to start stapling the fabric to the planks along the angle before cutting, as the boards are only supported by 4 sets of staples. 1/2" to 3/4" stables work great for adding more secure points. You will also need to do this around outlet cutouts, too. Overall I think these do a great job deadening sound in the room. Very helpful to quiet sound transfer between the baby's bedroom and their sibling.

        High end finishes
These panels are super un trended right now and I’m so excited to be able to install them in my basement. The felt backer board is approximately a quarter inch thick and the wood slats are about a half inch thick so it’s a thicker piece than you would imagine. The colors are gorgeous, and it comes with the screws to install and recommends glue for install. At first, I wasn’t planning on using the glue, but I actually think it’d be necessary to hold the large panels up.

The panels look like they were rushed while building. Some pieces of wood were sticking out more than others causing panels to look very uneven. Cool design, but it doesn’t look professional. Also the black fabric had to be trimmed in some areas. In my opinion, they’re are expensive and they should’ve at least be built right. Not happy with the results.

Hi, thank you for your sincere feedback. We’re sorry to hear the panels appeared uneven and required trimming, especially given the price. We appreciate you noting the design, but understand your disappointment with the overall finish. Your comments will be shared with our product team for review. MSI-Surfaces

A bit expensive, but easy to install and greatly reduces Echo. It also looks good for acoustic family coming so many colors.
