Product Overview

For over 25 years, Back to Nature has been a manufacturer of safer paint and varnish removers, lead paint abatement products, and exceptional cleaning products. MULTI-STRIP is a unique, environmentally safe paint remover designed to remove up to 15 layers of paint in 1 application. The new and improved version better penetrates multiple layers and easily removes difficult coatings. Another new feature is that a light application can quickly remove a few layers of paint when time of removal is important. It is biodegradable, non-flammable, non-combustible and contains no methylene chloride, NMP or caustic. MULTI-STRIP Advanced is odor-free and can be easily cleaned up with water. As a paste it clings easily to vertical surfaces and completely fills detailed areas. For application, it can be brushed, rolled or sprayed on to the surface with a paint sprayer. In addition, it creates less waste for easy disposal. It requires no neutralization (neutral ph).

Hi-You can spritz with water to rehydrate and once rehydrated you can scrape up carefully with a plastic putty knife or abrasive scouring pad. Since it has been sitting, it could potentially remove any clear coating you might have on the wood. Hope this helps!

Can this be used in the same room where pilot lights are lit?

Answer

I wouldn't advise it. While it's not going to be as dangerous as the solvent based removers, it's never a good ideal to use products like this where there is no ventilation. I doubt there is a danger of explosion, but the vapors are not good to be breathing.

It would help if specifications included Area Coverage.

Hi-We do not. We recommend 5 Gal. bucket for spraying as you will submerge the pump directly into the bucket. Drill mix the material before and you can use a .019-.021 tip with a clean hose. Remove the filter and we recommend 3-5 passes on the surface.

I applied this thick paste with a brush after trying a sponge stick. It has a fruity smell as opposed to a strong solvent aroma. It softened two layers of varnish from a teak boat dining table easily during the two hour wait. Scraped it off with plastic putty knives to avoid damaging the hard teak surface. It did not affect the stain or the color of the table. Very impressive!

Does work well
I followed specific directions and it still didn’t remove all 4 layers. It left it worse than my prior method of heating old paint and scraping/peeling it off. The area where paint was stripped to first layer and or bare, that was without the product. In short the product didn’t work well or remove paint evenly, however this says removes up to 15. I had to put a second coat to hopefully remove the last 2-3 layers. I used a brand new spatula with sharp edges and still wasn’t helpful. I don’t know a what to do now. It’s caused way more work and I was looking for a quicker resolution.

made it worse
I had hoped to remove alligatored lead paint from a window and I applied this product liberally, even standing maybe 1/4 thick goop on horizontal surfaces of window. Let it stand over 24 hours. Maybe removed one layer of paint and created a huge mess that will take me days to finish scraping now. The alligatored sections of paint did not come off, so now the entire window is a mess. And the fumes stunk up my whole house.

Didn't work as described - money wasted, afternoon wasted

This did the job. I used it to remove the layer of paint behind a mirror. I left it in a couple of hours, and the paint just came off without any problem.

Works so Far!
Removed several strips of cake, like scooping ice cream. I left the material on overnight.

Did well
Used it to strip a dresser I picked up. Went through a while 1qt and had to pick up another to finish. The first batch was separated and had to mix which was a bit difficult due to size of container. 2nd batch was already mixed together. 1st one which I had to mix worked way better than 2nd batch, but all in all it made if for I had to do a lot less sanding to cut the stain.

I will absolutely recommend this product! I have been looking a product to remove the paint from my shower wall and couldn't find one until I found this one. I am in love with it! It didn't take long to get the paint off and I didn't damage my tile

Do not buy
Was stripping only (1) coat of 29 year old varnish. Let set overnight and still had 30% I had to redo. Nothing like the old stuff.... returning.
