Product Overview

Achieve the versatility you need when preparing your meals. The Magic Chef Multi-cooker is a programmable 7-in-1 multi-cooker that combines the function of a slow cooker, pressure cooker, sauté, rice cooker, steamer, yogurt maker, and food warmer. Multi-cooker cooks food properly so that it doesn’t dry out and has better texture. Cooking with pressure reduces cooking time by up to 70% which saves time and energy. The Fish and Steam functions use a lower pressure, which avoids overcooking delicate foods. The inner pot is dishwasher safe for easier cleanup, too.

  • Multicooker is a 6 Qt. capacity, perfect for preparing your family meals
  • 7 cooking methods in one unit, featuring pressure cook, slow cook, rice, steam, sear, yogurt, and keep warm
  • Equipped with 9 safety features for peace of mind including: pressure control safety device, pressure limit protection, over pressure self release features
  • Pressure cook function reduces cooking time up to 70% and helps lock in flavor and moisture
  • The “Keep Warm” and “Delay Start” settings assure meals are warm and ready for even the busiest lifestyles
  • Includes the following accessories to make food preparation even more convenient: Stainless steel rack, soup ladle, rice scoop, measuring cup and a condensation collector
  • The multi-cooker is just what you need to cook rice and the intelligent “Rice” function senses contents of pot and automatically adjusts cooking times

I'm am happy with my purchase! I read good and bad reviews on this Magic Chef 6 qt pressure cooker. I've been researching Instant Pot Duo60 and this Magic Chef (MC) All-in-One caught my eye accidentally while at Home Depot. It was on sale... and with the IP Duo60 at around $100, this looked like a great cost effective alternative. I watched many IP youtube videos (for recipes). This MC is nearly identical to IP Duo60 (with exception that the MC cord does not remove and the MC lid doesn't hook onto the top by it's handle to 'drain', and some of the controls are slightly different (MC Sear is IP Saute)). I have used electric and stove top pressure cookers for years--not afraid of 'em. I really like my 37yr old Presto electric pressure cooker... but my rice cooker finally broke and I was interested in down-sizing the number of cooking units in my cupboard. I really needed a rice cooker--but this multi use device looked like a great idea! Immediately when taking the MC from the box I realized it would not fit nicely in the cabinet I store most of those types of kitchen appliances (it is pretty tall--same as IP Duo60, at approx. 12.5" tall. (I'll have to find another cabinet to store it). So far: Steamed artichokes for dinner last night-fast! I made steel cut oats for breakfast, came out great. Made chili for dinner (one pot sear, cook onions/garlic, pressure cook). So far it is performing better than expected from all the IP youtube videos I watched. I'm not getting a feeling there is much difference between IP and this MC. I had issues getting "manual" setting to work yesterday, but I think that was user-error and I better understand the unit now. It seems complicated at first, but it is pretty simple. Most all the youtube recipe videos for IP seem to be using the "manual" setting vs. the preset -programmed ones. Just go to youtube and search for "Instant Pot recipes" and you'll be off and running with the MC 6-qt All-in-one. I'm so excited about this MC that I am headed to Home Depot to pick up 3 more that are on sale for xmas presents. I had intended to get the IP Duo60, but I can buy 3 MC on sale for the price of one IP Duo60--quite a $savings$. I don't have an IP, but this MC unit is so similar I think even the gasket and internal pot from IP may fit this MC--I'm trying to verify that. I can't comment on the long lasting-ness of the product, but I'll keep my 37yr old Presto Pressure cooker still (we have an emotional attachment). ;)

I am online now to buy my 2nd one of these! I can not pass up the price, 2 of them for less than the cost of the IP brand. These are so similar except the cord does not come off the machine and there are no slots in the handle for the lid to sit. I prefer the cord attached and the slots not be on the handles. The slots on the IP give a place to put the lid but also applies to much pressure and the handles will break off. I did have an IP but returned it due to being dented and found this instead!!! Run, don't walk to get this !!!!

I liked this when I bought it in June 2017. I don't like it now that it's December 2017 and it's already broken (very large bubble forming in the hard plastic on top of the lid).

I wish I bought myself one!
I bought the cuisinart pressure cooker for myself a year ago, and recently bought this one for my girlfriend. The Magic Chef is so much better. It's built better, cleans easier, manual mode does exactly what it's supposed to do and doesn't cut off, the inside pot of stainless steel and cleans easily, and it just looks better!

It is as good as instant pot with less price
I really like this product. I own 3 quart instant pot and it was very useful besides the size. So I was looking for bigger size, I found this with so much cheaper price. I've been using this for a month, and I am loving It! It is perfect size for family of 4 ( including 2 teenagers) and some leftovers. It is fit for our busy life style. I just put all the ingredients before my kids after school activity, and come home and serve nice, well cooked meal to my family. It doesn't make your house smell like slow cooker, and it is definately way faster and it doesn't make your liquid be evaporated. I am looking forward to try new recipes.

So simple to use. Very QUIET. Food tastes incredible. Sear your meats first, then pressure cook them. My first try was a whole chicken. Threw in some Oranges, seasonings, etc. Thoroughly cooked, and barely had to use a knife to cut it. This is my best appliance purchase.

The pressure cooker was well packaged and arrived in good shape. The power cord is pre attached to the cooker and that only leaves the drip cup to install before you can use the unit. Overall this unit is well built and the presets make it easy to use, quality and performance wise this unit is as good or better than my 6qt Instant Pot unit.

How much electricity does it use?? I live off grid and on solar.

It's about 1000 Watts at full tilt -- about half of what a full-size electric oven uses. However, the power drain isn't continuous (just heats as needed to get to whatever temperature is associated with a particular cooking method, setting and timing within the method). When we use the pressure methods, it cooks foods much faster than normal methods. I suspect that if you are off the grid, you'd normally not cook with electricity that often, and deploying an appliance like this seems like a relative luxury.

why is steam releasing during the pressure cooking process

One other thing I failed to mention... Contents of pot may be above maximum fill line!

What is the maximum Manual (pushbutton) cooking cycle time on the Magic Chef cookers that are currently shipping? Is it still 90 minutes, or has it been increased to 2 hours? Or more? Asked 12/11/18.
