The best "reasonably priced chain" is the Oregon 91VXL056G. This is not a low kickback chain. Be careful.

I've owned this model in Makita blue for about 14 months now. Gone through 5-10 gallons of gas. It runs like a dream and is easy to very easy to start with the spring assisted starter. Negatives -I've found the o-ring around sealing the carb throat to the air filter becomes sloppy very quickly (potentially ethanol shrinking?). I've solved this buy using gear grease in this area to trap particulates from making it into the carb. -Comes with spur type sprocket instead of rim This saw is a professional quality saw, built in Germany with a magnesium case. I'm not sure what Dusty is going on about because this chainsaw is built by the same people in the same plant that the Dolmers were made in Germany. One person builds a saw start to finish. The price point of this saw cannot be matched by Stihl with the ms241 or the Husky 543xp, both of which are several hundred more than this product. Advantages of those products over the Makita are dealer network, and the Stihl has m-tronic which automatically tunes the carb in real time. At the end of the day if you don't know how to properly maintain and adjust a chainsaw the quality of the product is negligible, and shouldn't warrant a low rating because of user error.

After reading all the research and reading reviews i decided on this chainsaw. I had trouble from the start. The chain keeps falling off, I'm constantly adjusting chainsaw tension. I've been thru 5 chains in less then thirty days because when the chain slips off it ends up bending some of the links. Also had damage to the bar. If I could return it I would...Side note I also have a Makita DCS 6901 (Blue) that I have used for over 6 years and never had an issue with it.

Out of the package it ran good, but there after it became extremely hard to start, I was going to return it, but the next day it ran fine, probably some sort of fuel air mixture issue in the carb. Since then it has ran good (were talking two weeks here).
