Makita is a pioneer in brushless motor engineering, battery technology, and miter saw innovation and has combined this expertise in the 18-Volt X2 LXT (36-Volt) Lithium-Ion Brushless 10 in. Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw (tool only, batteries and charger sold separately). It's powered by two 18V Lithium-Ion batteries for 36-Volt power and performance, but without leaving the 18-Volt LXT platform. Makita brushless motors are engineered for up to 50% longer run time, increased power and speed, and longer tool life. The XSL06Z has an efficient BL Brushless Motor that delivers up to 4,400 RPM for fast and efficient cutting, with Automatic Speed Change technology to adjust cutting speed and torque under load for optimum performance. The XSL06Z has a unique 2-steel rail sliding system design that offers single slide-glide operation for smooth and dead-on accurate cutting right out of the box, as well as a reduced overall footprint that allows the saw to be positioned flush against a wall. The innovative direct-drive gearbox and guard system is engineered for increased vertical cutting capacity (5-1/4) and crown molding cutting capacity (6-5/8 nested), the largest in its class. It will also crosscut a 4x12 at 90°. The saw miters 0 to 60 left and right, with positive stops at 0, 15, 22.5, 31.6, 45 and 60 (left or right). The bevel lock is located in the front of the saw for easy access and quick adjustments from 0 to 48 (left and right).

how much does it weigh

Asked by barb February 8, 2018

Everything I found to determine the actual weight online stated 27lbs. But I see that others apparently checked by weighing it, and those answers are certainly more believable. I was certain after lifting and moving this beast around a few times it was closer to 60, and my 'guesstimated' actual weight in my mind was 57lbs. Upon reading these comments it appears I would've done well on The Price Is Right, except I would've been dead-on or over, since 56lbs was NEVER a number I considered. I can't imagine how the specs can call it 27lbs. This beast is HEAVY!

Saw on clearance for $399. Why cant i buy display?

Asked by Greg May 10, 2018

Answers

I bought mine as a display. I walked into HD to actually purchase a Milwaukee, priced at about 399. But before I made it to that aisle, an associate in the department redirected me to the Makita display and actually asked me if I would reconsider buying this thing instead for $250. Since I had recently bought a Makita drill and Multi-Tool plus a 4Ah battery (1) to replace my old Craftsman stuff, it made perfect sense. I base this upon the batteries being the new platform. The associate upped the anti by throwing in 2 additional 5.0Ah X2 LXT batteries AND a Makita tool bag, which was perfect for the multi tool. I was certain the deal would be shut down by a manager before I made it out the door, but at the register, the manager actually did show up and all was A-OK. I scored the entire thing for a hair over $300! This deal pretty much made me a pretty ardent HD supporter, and the Makita tools I long desired are every bit the tool I had hoped for, if they last as long as my old Craftsman drill (2002 and cordless) that I still keep in the garage, and has survived numerous drop from ladders and outlived several old (pre lithium, which it now runs on) batteries, I will be very pleased.

Does this saw have the adaptor to plug it into 120v if i dont want to use the battiers all the time?

nope. batteries only. if your looking for a saw that is battery and the option for corded youll need to look at the dewalt flexvolt. The powercord is sold seperate most of the time. It clips into where the batteries go. They did have some power fluctuation issues with it. Not sure if they fixed it.

This is quite a powerful saw, it would be the question of how good is your blade.

Great Deal
Purchased this saw to install trim around the house. My old saw worked fine but could not handle 5 1/4 inch trim against fence. This saw was a timer saver. Was square out of the box. Sliding rail is extremely smooth. One of the best features is the electric brake. Blade stops as soon as you release trigger. Minimizes tear out. Got 2 free 5 amp hour batteries on top of battery kit so you can’t beat this deal. This Makita is solid.

This Makita saw is fantastic. Easy to adjust tilt and angles and makes very precise cuts. I have been using Makita miter saws for 15 years and this is my first battery powered saw. It can keep up with my older Makita plug in compound sliding miter saw without question. It is very well designed and built to perform. Very satisfied with this saw.

(What's this)
Awesome saw. The power it provides from two batteries is nothing short of amazing. It cuts easily with no strain on the user. Battery power obviously greatly increases its portability for the job site and beyond. It is relatively heavy so you’ll want a sturdy spot to use it on or get the same branded saw stand to increase portability and support. Honestly the hardest thing about the initial setup was installing the saw blade. You must use the included Allen wrench which although conveniently stored in the saw is somewhat hidden beneath the bevel angle adjustment knob. Then although well described, loosening the reverse-handed socket bolt from the flange required adding a long metal tube onto the Allen wrench in order to increase leverage (subsequent use was as expected). The instructions will then step you through the processes of ensuring you set the blade to maximum cutting depth and positioning the kerf boards to reduce board tear out. The kerfs are made of plastic so be sure not to place them completely flush to the sides of the blade; the blade may have flared tips that will shred through the kerf boards. You may also need to adjust them depending on the angle of your bevel. Another problem I had with setup is the dust exhaust; mine did not have a notch cutout to allow the fastener to fully slide on (I had to finish the cut on the plastic); also the dust bag is the same size input as the output and so cannot attach. The exhaust however does attach well to a shop vac or dust extractor which when used allow me essentially dustless tasking. The attached cutting fence has a quickly removable upper half that needs to be taken off in order to make steeper bevel cuts. These fence portions can then be temporarily stored on the side work supports. Both bevel and miter angle changes are well demonstrated by fixed markings. The miter also has set notches that are supposed to provide a “positive stop” for even faster changes between angles. The notches on mine however aren’t quite wide enough such that the adjuster still slides past. Just need to look at the numbers instead. Overall though my complaints are very minor compared to the performance of the tool and I don’t feel they warrant the removal of any stars for my rating. After a quick learning curve, adjustments can be made easily on the fly with great results. Dust extraction is great.

This has become my favorite go-to saw. So, when I first received the saw and stand, being it was battery powered I wasn't sure it would have enough power to rival my previous miter saw. Not only did it have as much power as my other saw, I think it actually had more. On my first used I was cutting 2x4s and it sliced through them like a hot knife through butter. The reason I wanted to upgrade to this saw I was looking for the sliding option so I could cut larger boards.

a battery powered beast!
Ive been wanting a professional grade cordless miter saw for a while... I’ve looked at the big yellow brand... the guys in red... and team orange too... they all make good saws... team orange has the best battery replacement warranty ... but they only have a small cordless miter... the red team has a decent looking saw... but I’ve not had much luck with battery life from them.... the yellow monster was just to big and bulky for me... This saw is big.. but not to big...its solid ... its quiet and cuts fast and smooth! The batteries last all day and when they finally do need charging... it only takes 45 minutes!

(What's this)
A battery powered beast. Big in every way, and since this is battery powered, I would have thought it would be more lightweight, but for a 12 inch sliding saw, it has almost twice as much metal in the base than my older 10 inch sliding saw. Again, with the battery, I would think this would be a lightweight meant for travel to the job site, but I don't see any skimping on the design. Of course this does mean moving it around it not to be done 'lightly'. But if you don't have power at a site, this sure beats getting a generator line run. All the moving parts are a bit over greased, and will be sure to collect saw dust. So either use the included dust bag, or a shop vac. There is an added dust pickup behind the blade, and the rubber hood does have to fold over the fence. It is not removable, so get used to it. The batteries quickly charged in about 20 minutes out of the box, and after a month of casual use (about a fifty cuts) still shows a full charge. The bevel is quick to set with just a ratchet knob and release button, so tool free, quick to set, and holds the setting very well. The Allen wrench is stored on-board for removal of the blade, and make sure to seat the blade inside the rear metal guide bracket. The manual sucks and pictures are few. The tool still caters to right handers for the actual safety switch and operation and makes it awkward to change hands, so still some room for improvement in my opinion. I would also like to see a power line adapter box that can be used when line power is available. The laser guide did not come centered out of the box and was off by 1/8 to the left. Otherwise a very well designed tool that I recommend.

I'm a bit amazed with just how powerful this saw is considering it's ran off batteries. The whole this is pretty solid, and feels different than a corded saw. Everything you need to get ripping comes in the box, including the blade, but as one other reviewer mentioned, there is a bit of assembly required. As for cutting, it makes extreamly smooth cuts over and over again with no bogging down at all. It does need to run two batteries at the same time, but it comes with both 5.0 AH batteries, and a really nice duel charger. I also like that you can put this close to a wall, as the saw slides outwards instead of away from you. This will be great for work benches that are a bit close to a wall. The only reason I dropped one star was because there is a bit of fussing around when changing cuts angles and such. A bit to many buttons and knobs for me, but the portability makes up for it.

Amazing Tool! Makita's 18V X2 LXT Brushless Lithium-Ion (36V) 10 inch Miter Saw is nothing short of a Total Break Through in Technology. Sliding Compound and Duel Bevels (past 45degrees) with a Very Precise Laser Beam with a separate on-off switch. The Rail action is Very Smooth. It cuts Very Smooth with the Crosscut Blade (included). It will be a lot easier to trim out a room and cut Crown Moldings with a Cordless Saw. Once again Amazing.

This being my first miter saw I'm still figuring out all the locks and adjustments. I could tell when the UPS guy deliverd my Makita XSL06PT saw and my WST06 saw stand also by Makita that this was no toy.....not an overpriced underbuilt tool that I would later regret even bothering with. This a high quality well thought out tool, but it is HUGE so make sure the room is available for storage on or off of the table. The saw, minus the dust bag will take up 36 inches of space front to rear and nearly that side to side. Just to see how it cuts I took a bunch of non treated scrap of various dimensions and cut it up to use in the chiminea, cut a few angles and bevels sometimes stacking the 2x4 's three deep and that was no problem at all. I also chopped some 4x4's up and put eye bolts in the ends with a short piece of parachute cord to use as sling chocks for a friends camper and boat trailer. The saw powered thru all that I cut with no problem at all, varying its own speed as needed to complete the cuts and properly manage battery power. I lost count at around 150 cuts and had around 50% battery power left. On most projects I feel confident this battery powered saw would get you thru most days and If you see thats not the case for around $150 bucks you can purchase another set of batteries. Do yourself a favor if like myself this is your first miter saw and read the instructions! You can do many things with this saw and its a pleasure to own and operate but it can absolutely amputate fingers, hands and arms as quick as it will cut thru a 2x4. Be CERTAIN of each and every cut. Also when initially installing the blade or changing the blade: The blade retention flange bolt is reverse threaded.. So removal of the bolt is opposite of normal...Its CLOCKWISE to REMOVE the bolt and COUNTER CLOCKWISE to TIGHTEN. I highly recommend either purchasing or making a table stand for the saw as well.
