The Makita 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 6-1/2 in. Circular Saw (model XSS01T) delivers cordless cutting power to the jobsite. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. XT333X1 - True Review
This was purchased during the 2018 Black Friday Deal and it came with x4 BL1850 batteries (separate packaging)
I have been using this kit for over a year now and it has standed to everything I could have expected.
Pros: Durability, Brushless, Power, Quite, Lightweight, different options of batteries
Cons: Only a single bay charger - obviously this is a stretch for the price but being that this comes with x6 batteries but only 1 charger port makes swapping out batteries more important and having to take breaks to charge the batteries is a little annoying.
XDT13Z This is the workhorse for me doing any driving and screwing things in. It has multiple speed and is the most important tool in the bag
XPH12Z This does wonders with out stopping. Ive cut up to 4" holes with this thing with ease.
XSH03Z - This cut wood and plywood with ease, I have not cut anything else using this saw so I cannot review it on other matierals but could not image that having another blade would make much of a difference.
DC18RC Only bad part is it comes with a single bay charger.
I would recommend this to anyone that is interested in a Makita kit. This is a brushless line at a brushed price.

This saw works really well. It is lightweight and easy to operate with either hand since you can easily see where the blade contacts the wood from either side. I wondered if it would have enough power but it really cuts fast and clean. Also I doesn't seem to be as loud, when cutting, as my big corded circular saw. I got it in a kit with a battery and charger. The battery that came with it and the batteries from my other Makita LXT star tools all work interchangeably without problems or modifications. Its already been knocked off the bench on to the ground (outside) a few times and has not suffered any damage not even a crack. Along with this saw, there is a 20yr old 12V Makita drill driver in the attached image that still works! That's even after being dropped on the concrete from 8ft up several times. No, it is not compatible with the LXT star tools.
