Any problems with tripping 15 amp breakers and second, does the small tank provide anoigh capacity for blowing off work benches and other debris.
Asked by: Davidd
I have not had any problems tripping my breakers. It is plenty of air for short bursts and cleaning off benches or tools. Not enough to blow out a garage without having to wait for it to catch up a few times. I hope this helps.

Is this unit wall mountable?

Asked by: Revlusn
You could ,you would need a heavy duty shelf that could handle the weight.. the good news I have mine on a shelf and there's virtually no vibration to worry about "walking off the shelf"

Does anyone use a an air blower with this?

Among other things, I need an air compressor for blowing off my dirtbikes after washing. Is the 2.6 gal too small for this use? My porter cable barely keeps up but the CFM is lower on it. Also, will it run a framing
Asked by: DenDen
I have this Makita air compressor. I use it to fill up My moto cross bike tires, Four wheeler tires, Silverado tires and I use it to blow the water out of My sprinkler system zones. I never used the Makita compressor for framing. I have a bigger air compressor in our pole barn, to run impact guns and other things.

Customer Reviews

2.6 Gal. 2 HP Portable Electrical Hot Dog Air Compressor is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 230.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from SO quiet, and full of power for almost any construction job. This little guy has a TON of power, and purrs with a nice easy rumble. I have owned at least 5 of the popular pancake compressors over the years, and aside from literally scaring my customers, I was tired of putting them in the closet because the sound was deafening and causing me unneeded stress. A quiet compressor was what I wanted most, and this Makita does not disappoint. It can run my hardwood nailer and 2 pinners at the same time (with a splitter not included) all day long every day. Max psi seems to be about 120, so the only thing it does not do well is a roofing nailer. Other tradesmen will stop and comment on how quiet it is, and you can even have a conversation over it. My only complaint is that it's a bit on the heavy side, and the feet leave black marks on the floor underneath. Just be sure to put something under it. Not a deal breaker. This is still the best compressor I've owned, and I'd buy it again. I put a water filter on mine and be sure to change the oil when needed (once every 9 months or so).

Great for working around the house with it even being in the same room. Builds air quickly and is extremely portable. Get it and you won’t be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great compressor I was hesitant to purchase this because it is slightly more expensive than others but it is well worth the small extra. Compressor is much quieter than prior one, takes about 1 minute to go from 0 to max and is perfect for my needs. Runs a finish nailer very easily and could probably run 3 of them. Light weight and well balanced. Makita even puts cooling fins on the pressure line from the head to the tank. Well made and well thought out. Oil level sight glass is great and saves trying to pull a dipstick out and read. Shipped great and on time for free. Took 20 minutes to follow break in procedure and I was in business. I cant say enough about how much quieter this one is over my old one of a different make. I have used this about every day for a month and see no problems. Cast head and lower RPMs should provide a long life.

Ordered this compressor online from HD, it arrived 1 week later, no damage. After break-in the compressor had an air leak, the pressure switch would cycle on after 15 minutes of no use. Sprayed soapy water but no leak could be found or heard. I can live with this . The compressor stays in my garage, never left out in the weather. After the warranty expired the compressor would not build over 60 psi, it just stayed running. So I took the compressor head off to find both the inlet and exhaust plates bad. This is where it gets interesting, The owners manual shows the unit assembly and part numbers so I ordered the parts for the compressor rebuild. Everything except the inlet seat is correct. I sent back the wrong seat 3 times then called a Mikita Authorized Service Center. They could not figure out why I kept getting the wrong part. I took the inlet seat to work and re-built the reed and seat myself. I also found my air leak, the tank check valve was not sealing correctly. I took this to work and machined the brass seat correctly. Reassembled the compressor and now it fills faster then new. It also holds air for four days before the pressure switch kicks on. Now I have the compressor I wanted when I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet & Strong I needed 6plus CFM out of an inexpensive portable compressor that used 110 volts and had an oiled sleeve. You guessed it, it doesnt exist. But when I bought two of these Mac700's and connected the hoses together I got what I wanted! And portable! I plugged them in to the same outlet to see of I would trip a breaker. Not only did they both work together fine, but they were so quiet! I left them running in the garage and went inside. My wife asked what the whistle sound was. I told her that it was my air compressors, and she went back to working on her laptop unimpressed. But I am. Did you know that compressors made a whistle? The intake pulls so hard it whistles, but you cant normally hear it because the compressor is so loud. Not these. CON: Other reviewers warned me, and they were right. Both shrouds were damaged in shipping. They both look OK I guess, but all I care about is if they guide cooling air around the motor and heads. They do that fine, so I wont mess with it. But check out the specs of a doubled up system! For about $430, and portable to boot. Now I can paint, spray texture or just run a nailer. I doubt it would keep up with most pneumatic tools though. Maybe a third compressor..?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LITTLE COMPRESSOR BIG POWER Very impressed with this compressor, it is perfect for the smaller jobs where you know your gonna need to use pneumatic guns. I am a general contractor and I got this compressor with the thought of not needing my big compressor all the time, it is quite heavy and takes up to much room during transportation. Something smaller that a could carry with one arm would be great. It has powered the following guns of mine finish, roofing, framing, 7/16 crown stapler, strap tight, palm nailer, and a few others. It is able to to keep up during multiple firing applications. Example I was sheeting a wall with the stapler, I was able to fasten the entire sheet in maybe 15-20 seconds never had to go back through and hammer in any staples that didnt get set they all sunk. For the framing gun this little guy has the power I tell ya very impressive and very quiet it can be running right next to you and you can easily have a conversation over it. All in all this is a great compressor very well built, perfect for those smaller jobs where u don't want to sacrifice power. Way to go Makita

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid home compressor for the average homeowner I was in the market for a smaller simple compressor to use with small air tools or airing up tires and the like, nothing major. I probably checked 100 reviews of 100 smaller form factor compressors over the last few weeks, and none rated higher then this little beast. On a whim, I just decided to order it, and it was delivered within a few days from HD.com. Opened it up and ran it through its break-in phase, then tested the seals and pressure hold which checked out perfectly. It was much quieter then I expected, being used to the single stage non oil compressors that really ring your ears, and it has worked perfectly for me with tire changes and small jobs with a small air ratchet. If other Makita products work as good as this little guy, I might have to trade up brands. My only reason for not rating it a 5 is that it will loose pressure and have to rebuild if your doing anything very heavy, but what do you expect from a small 2.6 gal tank.
