Surprised to find these are actually quite a “bit” better than the supposedly upscale bits I used to...default...to. You can really FEEL the sharpness of this bit cutting through the material as the bit progresses. Shaves it away effortlessly and as a result the bit doesn’t jerk the drill into the material or twist the drill around anywhere near as much as it breaks through like lesser bits. It’s like, “oh, so THIS is how a quality bit should drill!” I’ve since found some other companies also have similarly good bits, so it’s not like this is some thing only Makita does. Nothing too magical to find it comes down to how sharp the leading edge is when you break it out of the package. Whodathunk?
I really wish Makita sold these in sets with a durable and marked plastic case, and wouldn’t mind paying the price premium as long as they retained the drilling quality. Also, the cool blackberry tint you see in the product photo? LOL I thought that was a digital artifact or something. Coolness factor aside it makes them really easy to find when sitting in a pile of other bits. So it’s actually really convenient.
