Had to return the adapter. The instructions were out of date and only supported Windows 8. I was afraid the adapter had screwed up my computer because when I installed the software it crashed. After uninstall computer was ok. If the adapter works without the software and Windows 10 picks up which driver it needs, that was not in the instructions. Very disappointed.

Unfortunately this unit would not function on my Windows Vista based OS HP notebook computer. So I give it 2 stars out of five because I could not verify it's intended function. However, the lack of functionality probably can not be totally blamed on the USB to LAN device as none of the several other types of both fixed (LAN based) and wireless (WiFi based) external devices I tried to gain Internet communication functioned either. Believe now that the issue is "buried" within the notebook itself and it just will not function on the Internet again!
