Hi Eric, it looks like this 10 lb. Planipatch Patching Compound is a store exclusive item and only able to be bought in a Home Depot store. Asked by ZO December 15, 2015

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We reached out to MFG for more information and below is their response. “Planipatch can be used over “cutback” adhesive residue when mixed full strength with our Planipatch Plus admixture. Cutback adhesive is a black asphalt emulsion adhesive, so I am addressing cutback. 1. Was highly recommended for finish on a concrete fireplace. I found it fairly easy to work with if you work fast but the next morning it was covered with cracks

I do not advise using this product unless you are an experienced pro. I've done lots of successful sheetrock mud work, tiling, carpentry etc. The instructions looked fairly simple. However, they do not tell you the kind of consistency you need and how FAST it dries out. I started off trying to cover a 2 x 3 area on the slab and the stuff was drying out faster than I could get it on and spread around. Dragging the screed across pulled drying chunks leaving a mess. I frantically tried to scrape away what was already down but no, that was impossible. I followed the instructions carefully, by the way. I have a big Milwaukee 1/2" drill and large mixing bit I use for sheetrock compound. You have to get this stuff PERFECT consistency in order to work which is???. It would be better to use something that dries more SLOWLY so you have time to get the compound across the slab, if need be and let it settle. I had a 6ft piece of aluminum channel I used for a screed in the larger areas but still didn't work. Also, the stuff started drying out on the inside wall of the bucket so it was not just a matter of adding some water to loosen up the compound. I am sure I'll have to rent a concrete sander tomorrow to clean this mess up. I'd rank this stuff ZERO stars if I could.

Hello Wgp8435: We are sorry to learn of your frustrations using our Planipatch. This a rapid-setting patching material, and will need to be troweled very quickly. Rapid-setting patching products do not always screed well, and are best applied with a flat blade trowel in small areas. For larger areas, or if screeds are desired, MAPEI has a few specialized screed mortars such as Mapecem Premix, and Topcem Premix. If you would like some more information, please feel free to call our Technical Services Department at 1-800-992-6273. Thank you very much for choosing MAPEI products. -Product Advisor #7 MAPEITechnicalServices
