A: Building a air tight box with the product installed on one side. On the opposite install a calibrated fan with a variable / adjustable controller. Put a pressure gauge somewhere on the box. Run up the fan until you start to see the pressure reading jump up, then back off a bit. This is the point at which the product is just past its throughput flow. Take the readings from the calibrated fan which should show a reading on the controller for its CFM or similar number. Conversely and depending on just what you are attempting to use it for, you could just buy one, install it and see if it is adequate. If it is not flowing enough, add another one or move up to a large size in steps until you are satisfied with the results.
A: Each vent offers a full 26 sq. in. of Net Free Ventilating Area (NFA) If you have any other inquiries about our Master Flow products please call Technical Services at 800-211-9612.
A: I used the ones I purchased in a horizontal fashion under soffits. I would not recommend using them in an upward vertical fashion because the vent slots are narrow and direct rain penitration might be an issue. Especially wind blown driving rain. Even though the slots would be pointing down.
A: No, these are made to be installed at the soffit or under-eave portion of the roof. They should not be installed like Gable Vents. If you have any other inquiries about our Master Flow products please call Technical Services at 800-211-9612.
A: Yes, the product is suitable for that application.
A: It has been a while since I have directly looked at one, but without a screen it would be a poor excuse for a soffit vent. You should visit or call a store which sells them and pose the question. If you are limited to what you can click on, then just buy one or a small pack of them and inspect them to ensure it is screened.
A: This product includes a screen.
A: Sort of depends on what you are fastening the vents to. Most times a soffit will be 1/4" thick plywood. If so, then 3/8" or 1/2" long stainless steel or aluminium screws. Pre-drill with a 1/16" drill bit and then turn the screws in carefully by hand so you don't crush the product or break off the screw or strip out the hole.
