Product Overview

The GAF Master Flow 25-Watt Low Profile Solar Powered Roof Mount Exhaust Fan will help remove excess heat and moisture from your attic to protect your roofing system from premature deterioration and its low profile design enhances the appearance of your finished roof. The Solar Powered fan requires no wiring and uses no electricity. Hot attic air is removed from the attic by the fan as fresh air is drawn into the attic through your existing intake vents. The 24-Volt DC brushless motor provides airflow up to 750 CFM and requires no maintenance. The impact-resistant, 25-Watt solar panel helps withstand hail and foreign object impact. Recommended usage for this unit is one unit per 1000 sq. ft. of attic space with a minimum intake ventilation of 560 sq. in. of net free area.

8/21/2019. Purchased 2 units yesterday 8/20/2019. 1974 Manufactured Home. Roof is split into 2 attic lines. Had 2 Wind Powered Spinner Turbines, No Wind, Massive Heat wave. Placed Master Flow units on both existing holes on roof lines. Did not peel back shingles or nail down yet. Monitored temperature inside of house. 72 degrees at 1:00 p.m. Usually 78, and air conditioning must be turned on. Short Video with sound of Units on roof here, in operation. Work quite well, and quiet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--TxirFquQ0 Thank You So Much Home Depot and Master Flow.

Hard to rate these. I had the roofers put them in (3 in the house roof, 1 in the garage), and they seem to be working fine. They're very quiet, and as far as I can tell, they're making a difference in the temperature in both the house and the garage. What makes them hard to rate is that the weather has been cooler lately, so I'm not positive that they are making the huge difference they're supposed to. I think ilI' know better when the weather turns warm again.

    Solar Power Vent
As a GAF MasterElite roofing contractor that provides the enhanced GAF Warranties, I use the GAF/Masterflow Solar Powered Fan as part of the GAF Roofing System. The appearance is a big plus - low profile and discreet appearance. Provides necessary roof ventilation for Hip style roofs that do not permit ridge vents. The only problem has been some noise from the small motor on a few of the units that the homeowner can hear inside. Replacement motors have been sent to remedy the problem.

Just installed it. Much higher flow rate and quiet (I can not hear it running). Our old solar attic fan was noisy and did not have a thermostat so it ran during winter.

The solar roof ventilator was fairly simple to install since it is not dual power. It works perfectly and instructions are straight forward. I had installed 2 of these on my roof to extract the hot air in the attic and help with energy savings. I will pay off in the long run.

Easy install, thermostat appears to be a waste but you can wire direct. Not very high air flow but does work. Cools house well. Needs to have powered connection with timer so it runs into the evening.

The product was just installed today and I am hearing a loud ticking sound coming from the unit. I am having the installer look at it tomorrow if the weather is good. Is this normal when first installed? I can't rate the unit until I know if the noise is normal.

I would have to say that I liked the looks of the unit and the fact that it was solar. Beyond that the first unit I installed did not work. Called manufacturer and they wanted to send me a new motor to replace. I pulled it out and took it back to Home Depot because I do not believe in fixing something I just bought. Picked up a second unit that worked for two weeks. Pulled that one out and put in a third hoping the third would be the charm. No such luck :( Maybe with some additional engineering, this might be a product you can count on. For now, I went to the hard wired exhaust vent with no problems. By the way I am a General Contracror in Southern California for over 30 years...

This fan rarely turns on even in direct sunlight. I should have taken the professionals advice and went with the much more cost effective static vents. I made the mistake of buying two.

Must be the easiest and cheapest investment to improve my houses energy efficiency. My attic was ridiculously hot. .I put down insulation over the 1950 flattened blown in insulation, and there was some improvement, but the attic heat still heated up the whole house, and ceiling fans seamed to heat the house as the hot ceiling heated the fanned air. This attic fan cooled the attic with the existing twin Gable vents that had no air flow. My air conditioner isn't even needed until early evening. Product install is easy, and 100% solar power means no wiring. Original thermostat was faulty. I called the company and they promptly shipped me a new one, and suggested I bypass the thermostat temporarilly and run it constantly on with Solar power. The new thermostat arrived and works great. Good product, good customer service..

The product seemed to work fine for about 2 weeks. It then stopped. Changed settings ( temp and humidity ), as well as bypassing the controller, but no luck. I had to go to the local Home Depot store and order a new one, since returning the broken one would leave a huge hole in my roof. Hopefully the new one will function.

          A cheap gimmick.
First of all, huge supporter of solar. I do it for a living. Front of the box indicates that this model is dual powered. (Solar & Home powered). Instructions for the PRSOLAR2 indicate the you can wire in home power with a separate "control module". Does not seem to be the case with the PRSOLAR2. In case you may want to just use the dual powered thermostat that they sell online because you already installed the PRSOLAR2 based on its misleading information on the box.... don't bother. Yes, Home Depot sells online the dual powered thermostat separately that is shown on the box of the PRSOLAR2 but it says not for use with PRSOLAR2. Of coarse, the San Rafael staff have no clue how to guide you through this but could happily tell you when their next break is. I finally found out by searching online that the model you want if you would like it to work when cloud cover or shade cause it to stop running is the PRHYBRID2. On top of all this.... the motor burned out on the PRSOLAR2 I bought after adjusting the thermostat two days after having my roofer install it. I had to buy another PRSOLAR2 just to keep my house cool while waiting for the PRHYBRID2 to come in the mail.. (because they only sell the dual powered model on line. Frustrating beyond comprehension.
