Q:Can the PRSOLAR2 be removed from the roof by seperating body and not remove shingles. I have 3 that are not working. I don't want to remove the shingles to lift fan from roof.

Fan works but makes humming noise
The fan works great both on solar and on electricity. My attic is much cooler now. my only complaint is that the fan makes a bit of humming noise when it's running on solar power. How loud? I can definitely hear it when I'm in the attic or on the roof, and barely if I'm inside the house directly below it. someone with sensitive ears may find it annoying.

8/21/2019. Purchased 2 units yesterday 8/20/2019. 1974 Manufactured Home. Roof is split into 2 at...
8/21/2019. Purchased 2 units yesterday 8/20/2019. 1974 Manufactured Home. Roof is split into 2 attic lines. Had 2 Wind Powered Spinner Turbines, No Wind, Massive Heat wave. Placed Master Flow units on both existing holes on roof lines. Did not peel back shingles or nail down yet. Monitored temperature inside of house. 72 degrees at 1:00 p.m. Usually 78, and air conditioning must be turned on.

Hard to rate these. I had the roofers put them in (3 in the house roof, 1 in the garage), and they seem to be working fine. They're very quiet, and as far as I can tell, they're making a difference in the temperature in both the house and the garage.
What makes them hard to rate is that the weather has been cooler lately, so I'm not positive that they are making the huge difference they're supposed to.
I think ilI' know better when the weather turns warm again.

Solar Power Vent
As a GAF MasterElite roofing contractor that provides the enhanced GAF Warranties, I use the GAF/Masterflow Solar Powered Fan as part of the GAF Roofing System. The appearance is a big plus - low profile and discreet appearance. Provides necessary roof ventilation for Hip style roofs that do not permit ridge vents. The only problem has been some noise from the small motor on a few of the units that the homeowner can hear inside. Replacement motors have been sent to remedy the problem.

Is this fan installed according to the manufacturer's design and specifications? Installing fans in an occupied space is not recommended, this should only be used for attic ventilation.
While a video may not represent the noise level you experience in person, the fan installed in an unoccupied attic space typically does not produce a sound that can be heard inside the main house. Very nice with some unfortunate issues
I had no problems installing and the quality seems good. However I have unplugged the solar panel for the winter. Why? Because on a nice sunny 9 degree morning, I don't need the fan pulling 9 degree air into my attic. Its true, when the sun shines the fan runs no mater what the temperature is. This is insane for an "energy efficient" product. Also, as others have said, at some times the motor is quite noisy. At the worst, I can hear from each room in the house and even out on the street.
