Will this work for a dryer vent directly attached to dryer?

Asked by: Dustin
Yes, it would work, but it is not the right duct to use for a dryer. A 4 inch flexible aluminum duct would suffice.

CAN THE DUCT BE CUT TO SHORTER LENGTH AND DOES THE INSULATION PULL UP OVER CONNECTION TO VENT

CAN THE DUCT BE CUT TO SHORTER LENGTH AND DOES THE INSULATION PULL UP OVER CONNECTION TO VENT
Asked by: VITO
It can be cut, but you have to cut through foil, fiberglass insulation, plastic lining, and wire support. You might need to start the cut with snips or large heavy-duty scissors and then use wire cutters to finish it. The insulation slides easily over the liner. As long as you don't pull it too tight, you can pull the insulation over the connection. Use foil tape to hold the insulation in place after clamping the liner to the fitting.

Can the inner flexible duct be slid out of the insulation sleeve and discarded?

I would like to use the outer insulation sleeve on 4" aluminum tubing that will be used to vent a bathroom fan in my attic. Perhaps this would be easier than using insulation to wrap the 4" aluminum tubing. Any advice or comments would be appreciated. Thank you.

The insulated duct is exactly as advertised, easy to install from my bathroom fan to the roof vent. The silver jacket is good quality and not brittle, so it doesn't fall apart. The whole thing is easy to cut to length with a utility knife plus a wire cutter to snip the coil. Just be sure to purchase hose clamps and/or foil tape for attaching the flex duct at both ends, and a couple extra large zip ties to secure the insulation over those hose connections.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solved My Problem I had a bath fan vent that was just a thin flexible plastic duct with no insulation. Condensation from the vent had caused water stains on my bathroom ceiling. I replaced it with this insulted flexible duct and expect no more water stains.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality, worth doing right. For the little bit it costs compared to uninsulated, go with what you know you should to do your project right. Product was easy to work with and good quality.
