Answer This Question

A:  These motors have sealed bearings, there is not a need for lubrication. If you have any other inquiries about our Master Flow products please email warrantyllbp@gaf.com

by|Dec 21, 2022

A:  As far as I remember, it is lubricated for life.  When it fails, it must be replaced. I think HD also sells the replacement motor.

Q:If the motor goes out and needs replacing can you do this entirely from the roof by removing the dome?

          Answer This Question

A:  Recommended replacement is from inside the attic. Depending on how the electrical connection was made you might be able to do it from the roof.

              Low quality and poor design
Very poor design and low quality when is rainy water bounces back from roof to the blade and drip to the attic space. Contacted manufacturer and they don’t want to do cover the damages to my ceiling.Worst customer service I ever experienced.

I purchased this to replace an older one that I installed in 2007. The old fan unit got filled with dust and dirt when the roof was replaced, otherwise I think it would still be functioning perfectly. This unit has 5 verses 4 blades and is more powerful. I ALWAYS test the unit on the ground first before dismantling the old or making any roof preparations! Just hook up a 16 gauge short extension cord making sure to place the common in the common side (larger opening) and the hot on the power side. It worked fine on the ground so I removed the old and installed the new in about 3 hours. I also add straps to insure the unit will be stable during strong winds. I set the temperature at 110 degrees F and it has been working great. In my opinion these are very good units.

Barrett Roofing installed my previous one I 2011 and they installed this one too! Quick easy roof install because I didn't have to do it, but I did make the final electrical connections and they were very easy to compete. This version only had a thermostat; however, the previous in contained both thermostat and humidistat. Overall, a quiet unit and easy install! Thank you, Gary

I purchased two of these back in 2007. The only thing I ever had to do was oil them every few years in the Spring time and make sure they were functioning properly. We had a new roof put on in December and in January we found out that the roofers had damaged one of these as the top came off! I purchased this one to replace it. I love that they come in different colors now. We needed brown. As soon as it arrived I hooked up a temporary plug (used an old plug line with wire nuts from a lamp and made sure common and hot wires were correctly aligned). Then I placed the unit in the sun and waited for the temperature to get above 70 degrees. It went on perfectly. Then I set the thermostat to 105 degrees and used a heat gun. I also had a thermometer near and when the temperature got to 105 it went on perfectly again. Now it was ready to be installed. I do a lot of handyman work and I ALWAYS test these things BEFORE I install them to make sure they work. I set the thermostat to 105 and installed it in the attic. I used a switch in the attic so I could easily turn off the power to it while wiring the new unit. I tested one more time with a heat gun and it worked fine. I really like the MasterFlow brand. By the way the second unit I have is doing great at 13 years old!

The price was right. I bought the largest of the models offered. Roofers did install, and I put in the electric. Looks nice also. Thank you Master Flow. Money well spent for cooling and prolonged life of shingles.
